The pilgrims kicked John Williams out for his insistence that the "conscience" of religion be separate from government - and by 1644 he had succeeded in founding Providence (Rhode Island) - the residents of which voted in 1644 to separate church and state.

Ultimately, the Pilgrim's attempt to form a government ruled by religion utterly and completely failed - the First Amendment is evidence of that abject failure...

Just like David Barton and Newt Gingrich, Hagee is a calcuatedly deliberate fraud and liar...

Hagee is a liar, fraud, charlatan and servant of Satan who will ultimately end up  burning in hell with Falwell, Graham, Nixon, Hitler, and the rest of Satan's servants.

Our nation is founded on enlightenment ideals.

The concept of right and wrong is independent of any religion.

PASTOR HAGEE'S FLAWED DENUNCIATION OF SECULARISM

"Hagee agreed, adding: “When our Pilgrims landed, they made a covenant with God that this nation would be a nation that served the Lord."And our Founding Fathers, when they put the Constitution together, remembered the principles of the Word of God."

"Hagee claimed the United States has strayed from that form and must return to a righteous path in order to continue to prosper."

Return to that form?  Are religious zealots talking about returning to an America where church members enslaved black people and did their best to exterminate the Indians, while banning woman from the right to vote?

Enlightenment/rationalism/secular humanism  is "insidious"? I respectfully disagree. Adherents of this philosophy are rightly opposed to any kind of fanatical religious fundamentalism/any kind of inhumane dogmatism/any kind of violent extremism, a truly insidious trifecta.

Respectfully disagree with your comments:

I support the message of Pastor Hagee and have since July of 1986 because of personal experience in my life.

"Secular Humanism is an outgrowth of 18th century enlightenment rationalism and 19th... This insidious philosophy is at the heart and core of the cultural war.

One of today's most influential philosophies is that of modern humanism. Humanist way of thinking is having a profound influence upon modern nations and peoples. Humanist philosophy is at the heart and core of the cultural war taking place within the United States and many other Western nations.

Although proponents of modern humanism point to a resurgence of interest and support in the last century, the underlying principles of humanism are really quite ancient.

PASTOR HAGEE'S FLAWED DENUNCIATION OF SECULARISM

Message 8 of 8

Pastor Hagee’s tirade against secularism has a false premise. It is true that the Pilgrims fervently believed in a theocratic government based on the Bible. The Founding Fathers, however, did not. In fact, many of the most prominent ones, especially Thomas Jefferson and Thomas Paine, two doubting Thomases, envisioned God as a distant cosmic force (Deism), not the personal God who dictated the Bible. Jefferson once wrote that the Trinity was a three-headed monster, and Paine contended that the Old and New Testaments were a barbaric fraud. What they and their peers held sacred was the separation of church and state, not the word of God.

From Fox News:

Figures in government and media are trying to secularize American culture, which will lead the country away from its founding Judeo-Christian principles, according to Pastor John Hagee.

When the Pilgrims landed in today's New England, they made a promise to God that what became the United States would be a righteous nation based on morality, Hagee said in an interview airing Sunday on "Life, Liberty and Levin."

The relative lack of focus on Evangelicals by the media is, "indicative of the fact that America is slipping from its moral foundations of faith and Bible principles into secularism," the pastor said. "The further into secularism you go, the further away from the Word of God you go. "And when you're away from the Word of God, you are away from God," Hagee went on. "So, they're out there swimming in an ocean of their own ego -- their opinions, their secular humanist concepts."

Hagee, founder and senior pastor at Cornerstone Church in San Antonio, Texas, claimed that what he sees as the shift from righteous leadership toward secularism will destroy the vision of the Founding Fathers.

"It will produce nothing but heartache and chaos because the real principles of society -- the real principles of this nation -- are still in the Word of God," he said.

Host Mark Levin added, “It's rarely taught, I guess, in our government public schools these days.”

Hagee agreed, adding: “When our Pilgrims landed, they made a covenant with God that this nation would be a nation that served the Lord. "And our Founding Fathers, when they put the Constitution together, remembered the principles of the Word of God."

Hagee claimed the United States has strayed from that form and must return to a righteous path in order to continue to prosper.

"Our nation today is getting away from anything that looks like righteousness," he said. "... Our country is going the other direction full-speed and it is paying an awesome price -- and that price has just begun."
