I can't count the number of times our resident Trump Lover was wrong in his last post.

  • Social Security and Medicare are socialist components of our free enterprise system
  • As he has stated they really aren't because they are individually paid into programs.
  • There are photos of Tea Party members wearing shirts which said stop big government but don't touch my social security or medicare
  • He hasn't seen them but as he has stated, if they exist it just shows the insidious nature of dependency on government for the necessities.
  • Finally, he still doesn't understand that Obamacare was an insurance program run by private companies but regulated by the federal government. Therefore, people paid premiiums for their insurance, it wasn't free.
  • He understands that if it was not Socialism then it was fascism in that the government was to run it and, in effect control our health care. Remember Obama answering the question about the old lady needing expensive treatment and him answering that she would get palliative care?

I believe he has done a fine job of explaining the difficulty of providing a definition that those who do not want to understand could understand. Let's face it when it spans full-blown Marx doctrine to "but our public libraries are socialist" - it is not a simple issue fitting on a bumper sticker.

He thinks that the problem is that those who lean towards Socialism aren't quite ready to come out of the closet yet. That is a shame. There is nothing to be ashamed of but I think they have still not recovered from the McCarthy era nor do they understand that was a totally different issue.

No it isn't. Our free market Capitalism is successful enough to afford a certain amount of such. However, the more expense you add, the more regulation you add, and the more wealth redistribution os done via the tax system the weaker it becomes.

After Obama was elected in 2008, the Tea Party formed and protested in DC. During the protests, they said stop all big government programs but do not touch my:

  • Social Security or
  • Medicare

So much for hypocrisy

Three thoughts - I saw no such sentiment, did you? Second, that would show how dependent people can become on the government. Third, those are programs that recipients paid in to. Obamacare (for example) isn't.

WOW!

I guess as long as you have yours who cares about the Venezuelans huh?

You guys continue to puzzle me with your critical thinking skills...

Actually, the problem is not that we don't want to help Venezuela, it is that we want to be as healthy, have the same economic mobility, and enjoy the same benefits as the countries listed below. In short, we can look down on Venezuela but look how many countries get to look down on us.  Perhaps we should adopt their social programs, eh? Then, we can show Venezuela how to do it properly. It DOES appear that those on the right are dangerously ignorant of socialism if Venezuela is their model.

Did you know:

In order to afford a carton of eggs in Venezuela, you’d have to work for 5 days and save 100% of those earnings to afford them;  That’s assuming you have a job. Over 30% of the country doesn’t

It’s simple, they have no definition for us as socialists, which we are not, nor can they define it. By not letting them use it as a label, or to weaponize it, we frustrate the right wingers...Good!

They run around in circles trying to claim that we are not Patriots...classic projection...we are, if they follow trump, they are not!

So then ....... explain what "Socialism light" is and what it can lead to. Since you cannot rationally offer such an explanation without knowing what Socialism is, could you give your definition of it?

So then....have you not been reading my posts?

So then ........... what is your definition of Socialism?

I believe their definition of socialism must be "that which does not benefit the rich and powerful". As in "You can't implement that policy, IT'S SOCIALISM". No further definition required.

Note to those on the right, feel free to correct me with your actual definition of socialism <insert sound of crickets here>.

No, that's not it. It has been stated. No need to repost what you won't read.
