Strange to think that words create "risks to public safety". Or might the threat be from another source?

Try to twist it any way you want but Ohio State has the sense and concern for it's students to keep the white supremacist violence inducing hate speech away from it's student's and campus. Bravo to them.

It has nothing to do with words. It has to do with the last time Spencer had one of his little chats on a unoversity campus, his little minions got out their guns and started shooting at the protesters.

So, yeah, the threat is from a predictable source - racist right wing bigots who can't stand another point of view, so they resort to violence like they always do. Thanks for asking.

Thanks to the University of Florida students who banded together and made a statement against Spencer and his kind. And mostly with loud, persistent voices, rather than physical violence.

I  also hate to see such institutions spending over half a million in security, for these speeches to "safely" take place.

(As a UF grad, I was particularly interested in how the Spencer speech would play out, in Gainesville, Florida.)

Republicans are pushing racism, sexism and xenophobia as "free speech issues" in an effort to get the widest possible distribution for the vile hatred they have taken on as their new party dogma. Anyone who works to prevent the further division of Americans against eachother is portrayed as being un-American, because the only one's trying to stop the spread of this vile hatred are NOT Republicans.

Der Trumper took months to denounce the KKK and has equated Nazi's with anti-Nazi protesters. Sorry GOPers, ACLU not withstanding, when you put someone on stage who supports the oppression of one race by claiming superiority for another it is to invite violence - it is the epitome of "fighting words" which are NOT protected speech under the Constitution.

Nov 15 is opening day of deer season in MI, maybe it is in Ohio too. Lots of armed people around on that date.

Last time U of M had  a Spencer type speak they got shouted down and left. U of M said it was happy to provide a platform for free speech from all sides.

There is no freedom of consequences for your speech. The constitution says your free speech cannot be restricted by the GOVERNMENT. Your leader Spencer is just trolling for trouble, and costing millions in security because it is the ONLY WAY his tiny group can get its message out other than his SUPPORTERS ON THE WEB. You enjoy it, support it, troll it. you cant deny it because we have your posts that have supported him from day one. You believe the constitution should PROTECT SPENCER FROM CONSEQUENCES of his genocidal speeches. You dont even think peaceful protestors should shout him down. You have posted BLM is just a hate group interereing with Spencer's rights, but have never mentioned Spencer being a hate monger.

What is common on all these Spencer threads? You, supporting Spencer.

So it begins.

The article said Spencer's attack lawyers are going to file motions and other racist lies - let's hope they fail to find a judge that can be bought...
