President Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un signed a document on Tuesday stating that Pyongyang would to work toward "complete denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula"— a historic concession, which was one of the requirements the U.S. sought at the meeting.

The historic agreement came after the two leaders held several meetings throughout the day and appeared to get along well

Trump was asked by a reporter if Kim agreed to denuclearize and he said, “We are starting that process very quickly.”

Trump did not refer to the document as a treaty or agreement. He said there will be a press conference in the next few hours.

“You’ll be seeing everything in a little while,” Trump said, speaking to reporters on Singapore's Sentosa island. “I think both sides will be impressed with the result.”

Kim, who was sitting alongside Trump, said through a translator, “We had a historic meeting and decided to leave the past behind and we are about to sign a historic document.”

A reporter asked Trump if he would be willing to invite Kim to the White House and he responded, “Absolutely I would.”

Trump was asked by reporters in Singapore during his final appearance with Kim on Tuesday what surprised him most during their meetings.

Trump says Kim has a "great personality" and is "very smart. Good combination."

Trump also says he learned Kim is "a very talented man" and "loves his country very much."

Trump and Kim did not respond to a reporter who asked if they discussed Otto Warmbier.

Warmbier was an American student arrested in North Korean in January 2016 for stealing a propaganda poster and sentenced to 15 years in prison with hard labor. He was was sent home from North Korea in a coma and died soon after.

Trump said he is willing to meet with Kim "many times" in the process.

The summit marked the first between a sitting U.S. president and a North Korean leader.

In the run-up to the talks, Trump had hopefully predicted the two men might strike a nuclear deal or forge a formal end to the Korean War in the course of a single meeting or over several days. But in a briefing with reporters Monday, Pompeo sought to keep expectations for the summit in check.

"We are hopeful this summit will help set the conditions for future productive talks," the secretary of state said.

Kim has since left the island.

North Korea, China and Russia really happy with the deal.  I wonder why?

Maybe they are tired of the war that has been going in for 70 years...

Can you imagine how you, your children and your grandchildren might feel if you were born, grew up and had children of your on during perpetual war?

This is good news.

Jim   be happy with what we got. no one really knows what will happen next month and if  he really will agree to complete denuclearization
There is nothing in the agreement that actually has a time line or any kind of verification process. and with that guy, who knows.
I am sure that he will be very slow in doing anything that may harm his regime. and if for whatever the reason he doesn't feel comfortable, he will simply renege.

so. les't hope that this time it will work  and nothing else.

I read from a wide variety of sources before I am a cheerleader or naysayer, but words without a timeline sounds a lot like kicking the can down the road and saying that it was a victory.       But then, maybe details don't matter to the cheerleaders.

Some were recently doing similar handsprings about the VA bill and never noticed that there was no funding - in fact funding has been denied by donald....but this was toted as a huge victory as well?

Don't worry, be happy, even with things that had nothing to do with US negotiations, but are being cheered as US success ( #3).

It takes one with no character to identify another with no character.

Kim's GREAT PERSONALITY enabled him to execute his UNCLE and assassinate his BROTHER.

Kim's INTELLIGENCE has enabled him to EXECUTE between 140 and 350 government officials in order to secure his regime's power.

Kim's TALENT has made North Korea one of the poorest countries in the world with a GDP of $1800 that ranks as 197th in the world.

And finally, Kim's LOVE OF COUNTRY has enabled him to subject half of his country to abject poverty with people eating weeds to supplement the 300 grams of food they are given per day by the government. Intestinal worms and other dietary ills run rampant in North Korea due to their leader's LOVE OF COUNTRY.

But here we have applause by the Trump Cult at FOX for ole "SPANKY" as he compliments the most RUTHLESS DICTATOR presently on earth.

It is amazing what membership in a cult will make people do.

It certainly is. I notice that the agreement states "complete denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula", which is different from agreeing to denuclearization of North Korea.

This is obviously a good start, certainly preferable to threats of war. But correct me if I'm wrong, I did NOT see any specifics. This may appear on the surface to be a "feel good start", but without the details, we can't evaluate it properly.

It's my understanding that we are at the same point we were in April when Kim made the SAME commitment to the S. Korea Prime Minister.  Nothing new yet.

Sure beats war though.

Sure glad someone announced they had unsubscribed...we were all waiting on pins and needles there.  “It is not love that should be depicted as blind, but self-love.” - Voltaire
