Apparently, the powers of the Congress depends on which Party is exercising them.

jimc91:   when Republicans voted to hold then-Attorney General Eric Holder in contempt for refusing to hand over documents relating to Operation Fast and Furious.

Of course he was outraged. Fast and Furious was a nothingburger elevated by faux outrage and was a total waste of resources. In other words it was stunt.

Judge declines to hold Holder in contempt

10/06/2014 03:04 PM EDT

A federal judge has declined a House committee's bid to have Attorney General Eric Holder held in contempt of court — and perhaps even jailed — for failing to turn over documents related to the Justice Department' s response to Operation Fast and Furious.

Jackson called the House contempt motion "entirely unnecessary" and said it was evident that she was considering the government's motion to lift her prior order. "Under those circumstances, the Court finds no basis to hold defendant in contempt," she wrote.

Despite voting to hold Attorney General William Barr in contempt of Congress yesterday, House Judiciary Chairman Jerrold Nadler (D-NY) sang a very different tune in 2012 when Republicans voted to hold then-Attorney General Eric Holder in contempt for refusing to hand over documents relating to Operation Fast and Furious.

“Just joined the #walkout of the House chamber to protest the shameful, politically-motivated GOP vote holding AG Holder in contempt,” he wrote on June 28, 2012.

Fox News points out that then-House Minority leader Nancy Pelosi said Republicans were more motivated in attacking Holder than they were driven to get answers about Fast and Furious.

“What is happening here is shameful,” said Pelosi.

Now, however, both Nadler and Pelosi are warning of the “constitutional crisis” the Trump administration is causing by failing to hand over the unredacted Mueller report.

“There can be no higher stakes than this attempt to abrogate all power to the executive branch away from Congress and, more importantly, the American people,” Nadler saidWednesday. “We talked for a long time about approaching a constitutional crisis — we’re now in it. We are now in a constitutional crisis.”

Pelosi said she agrees with the Judiciary chairman.

“Yes, I do agree with Chairman Nadler because the administration has decided that they’re not going to honor their oath of office,” she said.
