1.    TIL that the commissioning of a navy ship is a dog / pony show, because it does not mean the ship is ready for 'action'.     Donald made a deal about the commissioning of a new ship, USS Ford and in order to be judged as sea worthy, it, as a new model, is supposed to undergo "shock trials".

Shock trials are meant to test a carrier’s key systems and assess how well they do under combat conditions. The tests, which have been going on for many decades in the U.S. Navy, involve the detonation of underwater charges. Depending on the outcome of the shock trials, design changes may be necessary prior to a ship assuming initial combat duty. The already overstretched U.S. Navy is concerned that shock testing the carrier may further delay its deployment date.

NAH, we don't need those anymore.....sigh.    https://thediplomat.com/2018/02/us-navy-wants-to-delay-shock-trials-of-13-billion-supercarrier/

2.    Mattis reports Syria did not use Sarin Gas:

Secretary of Defense James Mattis that the U.S. has “no evidence” that the Syrian government used the banned nerve agent Sarin against its own people.

This assertion flies in the face of the White House (NSC) Memorandum which was rapidly produced and declassified to justify an American Tomahawk missile strike against the Shayrat airbase in Syria.     That means that Donald's excuse for bombing Syria was misguided - suprise, suprise
