Re: Mexico may no longer stop Central American migration

This problem is not going to be resolved until we stop the flow of drugs coming into this country, and the money and guns being moved in the other direction. This is where we need the major investment in border security (IMO).

Cutting off aid would make bad matters worse, and rapidly undo the work that has already been done. It should also be considered that a portion of the aid to these countries is used for repatriation purposes and to improve conditions to curb the necessity for people to migrate. It's not about spending more money or less money, it's making sure that there is oversight to see that aid money is being used to do what it is supposed to do.

It is also a call to better diplomatic relations with Mexico to help us fix the problem, and it may be too little too late. It seems that Mexico is heavily favoring the candidate with the most anti-Trump message. We need Mexico and they need us. It doesn't benefit either country to be at political odds.

We need our State Dept heavily invested in working with all of our southern neighbors to solve this problem with holistic approach.

Now we have the coming elections in Mexico where Andrés Manuel López Obrador is expected to win.  The candidate is asking why Mexico is spending so much money to interdict migrants and drugs headed for the United States.   Mexico has turned back more migrants than America so if Obrador is elected, as expected, it will more than  double the number of migrants America will have to handle.

This is another unexpected consequence from the Trump administration. We were getting a lot of help on this issue until he started making unfounded accusations and picking fights with our neighbors.

Trump was not President when Mexico allowed thousands to make the "caravan" a coupla years ago on top of trains.

Mexico  hasne't stopped any immigrants that come thru their country forever. on the contrary they actually reward them with firecrackers and food and drive them to the border.

That is why we should be intelligent enough to try to get the help of that Government instead of insulting them try a carrot.
Stop the aid in all of those other countries and see how fast all of this doesn't happen.

Yet Another screw up by our Dear President, and our Dear Republicans who sit by and let it happen.
Who else can The Donald make mad at us so they can screw us? He seems to be working at it for a while now. Thanks Donald.
