You are right that GM is an embarrassment to America.

They have had a major management failure for the past 30 years...  They need to start by repaying the American tax payers for bailing them out!

GM repaid its loan with interest so the American people made money on that loan. Once again the far right enablers show how little they know. Here is another fact for the far right. With the high salaries it will draw thinking people to work there. That means people moving to AL from other states just as happened before in the south so the educated number grows faster as the far right enablers as described by the experts numbers will go down as they  could not handle these jobs. That means AL will no longer elect far right to office, and not be a Trump state and that is good for the USA.

@john258 why do you continue to make stuff up?

GM still owes more than $2B to the American Tax payer.  Look it up!

Only in the mind of the far right and we know what the experts have told us about that.

AT A 10 BILLION DOLLAR LOSS

Kia has been in Alabama for several years, Mercedes in SC for many years , same for Honda in Tennessee.  Don't follow your warped rationale although their presence does increase income, assets for the people in the area which leads to a higher standard of life and future -

According to this recent state public education ranking - New Mexico should be so lucky -

Business have been relocating to the south for years. One of their big reasons was the right to work laws which keep wages down for people. They set up and then import people from other plants in the north to do the work. I was involved is one such small operation. There was an expert on air plane assembly on about a year ago who said he would not fly on a Boeing plane assembled in the South due to poor work, but they do not tell you where the plane was assembled. When MAC Truck first opened a plant in the South they had to send a lot of people from their PA plant  there to fix the mess. One good thing that happens is in the long run you get a lot of educated people living there, and they in time out number the rural far right so the State will enter the thinking part of the US. We have seen the start of that in GA in the last election, and in AL a few years ago. As for GM they got stock and sold that stock when they wanted to, and they sold it at the wrong time. GM lived up to its side, but the back story is that the far right objected to the Feds. owning stock and pushed for the sale. They said it was Socialism to own Stock in a Corp.

Apparently we are not supposed to know that this deal was made in Jan of this year - so it has zero to do with GM.    Apparently we are also supposedly not to know about the broken wheel gambit that has been put into place, which is the "incentives" that Republicans like to include, that will come from the taxpayers, in the form of less taxes paid by the companies:   To lure the plant, the state offered an incentive package of $370 million in tax abatements and investment rebates, Alabama Commerce Secretary Greg Canfield said. That figure does not include a local incentive package still being finalized. The state will also provide workforce training.

So yea to a nearly year old deal that will supposedly add jobs in a couple of years and take out tons of money from the economy to pay for the jobs.     But then, that is the game the GOP like, have low paying jobs with most of the technical and what would be high paying jobs give to robots of plant managers , who may or may not be US citizens.

And we have silence from the left...  Hello!?!?!?    This is good news for America!

It’s Okay to be happy!  Maybe GM could learn something from Toyota, like build cars and trucks that Americans buy and want.

What a concept.
