That is bad news...more impaired drivers means more needless deaths...money going to pot instead of children's needs...another problem for law enforcement .... its a gateway drug.

Marijuana if used for medical conditions is another issue.

alferdpacker posted...Massachussetts law enforcement will run up against the same kind of problem that law enforcement has failed to find a solution to in other states where recreational marijuana is legal.

A blood test of a long term regular user of marijuana - who has not used marijuana for a week - and is completely unimpaired - will test nearly the same - or possibly even higher than a first time user who is quite impaired.

THC remains in the body for much longer than alcohol - without causing impairment.

Those antiquated and thoroughly inaccurate tests that grandpa and right wing geezers depended upon for alcohol are way out of touch with the medical and pharmacological realities of THC and impairment testing...

No test currently exists that can accurately and definitively measure or determine degree of impairment based upon blood level of THC.

BTW - the two most common and most heavily used original gateway drugs are alcohol and nicotene(tobacco) - and unlike marijuana - they are both quite physically addictive - marijuana is NOT physically addictive.

Am I a marijuana user?

Nope - not haven't used any marijuana for over 35 years now.

Never a tobacco user.

Never a regular alcohol user - haven't consumed any alcohol containing beverage for over 25 years.

Sounds like a commercial for marijuana .

Like we need another drug.

I think that there will be tests to determine when a driver is impaired because of their use of marijuana. I do know that people in Montana have been arrested for driving under the influence of marijuana and there have been deaths because of the use. What test did they use?

It will be good for Doctors that deal with drug addiction.

Up here in Colorado, we have casinos and pot too - working out well.

A state law was passed restricting magazine size for firearms - a manufacturer of large magazines moved to another state - good riddance.

Up here in Colorado, state hunting regulations, and the experience of big game guides say that the ubiquitous AR15 is too small a caliber and not powerful enough for big game hunting. (antelope, bighorn sheep, deer, elk, moose, bear), but it's said to be just fine for waving around at drunken militia meetings...

Massachusetts makes history as first legal marijuana shops on East Coast open Tuesday

"Obviously, it will be a historic artifact of tomorrow so I won’t be consuming it," said the mayor of Northampton, who became one of the first customers.

NORTHAMPTON, Mass. — The Bay State made history Tuesday with the launch of the first recreational marijuana stores on the East Coast — more than two years after voters decided to legalize non-medical cannabis.

Medical marijuana facilities Cultivate Holdings, in Leicester, and New England Treatment Access (NETA), in Northampton, opened their doors at 8 a.m. to kick off the state's first legal recreational marijuana sales to people over the age of 21.

Two U.S. military veterans, one of whom is the mayor here, became the first customers to kick off a new, green era. Massachusetts first voted to legalize medical marijuana in 2012 and then voted to legalize recreational pot in 2016.
