According to polls, most people blame Trump (or "credit Trump" - depending on your viewpoint) for the government shutdown.

Why they love Donald Trump...

So the GAO, you know the government accounts who sit in cubicles are going to determine what, where, how and study the terrain? They're ACCOUNTANTS, they check numbers.
We have 700 + miles of walls already. Contractors ready to go. If you wanna talk about waste... then please, that's a conversation conservatives win every freakin time.
Pathetic

This 2017 GAO report told the Border Patrol to provide metrics by which to measure how fencing helped them be successful st their job.

This 2018 GAO report said they haven’t really done that yet, PLUS, they can’t effectively estimate projected costs based on design and use for different terrains.

https://www.gao.gov/assets/700/693488.pdf#page37

Until they do that, they have a huge risk of building inefficiently and ineffectively. Most state/local governments require much better accountability and oversight for capital projects like this. Maybe because they are required to have a balanced budget. This project is being handled in a very lazy way, and I’m giving them benefit of the doubt that they know what they are doing. Because it sure doesn’t seem like they do. Or they are intentionally trying to build the wall without caring whether it’s effective or not.

Its easy to spend other people’s money and not care if it works.

As President Donald Trump mulls declaring a national emergency over border security, a new Morning Consult/Politico survey shows a lion’s share of voters agree with him that the United States is facing a crisis over illegal immigration.

According to the poll, conducted Jan. 4-6 among 1,989 registered voters, a 42 percent plurality think there is an illegal immigration crisis at the U.S.-Mexico border, which Trump has argued as he’s tried to leverage a partial government shutdown to secure congressional funding for his proposed southern border wall. Another 37 percent of voters said there’s a problem but not a crisis, and 12 percent said there’s neither a problem nor a crisis.

79% of republicans support the president's actions.

Most don’t support a wall.

Also, the way the poll question is phrased, it would be easy for liberals to agree ta crisis exists, but not necessarily because they fear illegal immigration, but instead due to the way the Trump administration is detaining and separating families.  You just can’t tell from this.

what about the campaign promise to repair our 3rd world infrastructure? What about the campaign promise for a "beautiful health care plan." What happened? Promises broken.

*The wall is not meant to send illegals back to their country of origin.... that is

part-n-parcel of immigration reform. That's spin, political break dancing.

*The illeagl drugs enter ports of entry because the wall works and funnels the traffic there. How do you not understand that? See Jim Acosta for reference.

*The republican controled  government requires 60 votes in the senate, but everyone knows that... more contrived obtuseness.

The obtuse factor is indeed rampant, but it's all on the Republcian side.

What lil donny wants is 35% more wall - that's a big reason Dems and other thinking people don't want to give it to him - what's already there is all we need.

The Corps of Engineers cannot do construction inside the USA - if they could, the I-State would've cost much less and lasted a lot longer.

Walls have NOTHING to do with all the drugs coming via the Ports of Entry. The Drug Lords send them in BY TRUCK which need roads and the Ports are on the roads. That moron from Iowa with his "immigrant kids with calves the size of cantalopes" may have struck a cord with GOPers, but it's total bullfeathers.

The Republcian controlled Senate PASSED a budget with border control funding LAST YEAR. When House Dems passed the same bill and sent it back, McConnell won't even bring it to the floor for debate because lil donny won't sign it.

Total REPUBLICAN obstructionism because lil donny had a Tantrump after Fox scolded him.

The majority of Americans do NOT want the wall. Trump supporters: deal with it.

Not a chance - A solid majority of Americans did not want Trump, a solid majority of Wisconsinites did not want GOPers and yet that's what they got, and the GOPers will continue to exercise power to benefit the 1% and debase the 99% as long as we let them.

He cares about getting things done especially when it comes to honoring the most import function of government, safety and protection. Three ways to look at it... right, wrong or indifferent.

It usta be right, now the dems think its wrong, but no one is indifferent. I looked at another way, I don't blame Trump for the shutdown, I credit him with it. Using his leverage to fulfill a campaign promise that almost directly led to his election.

The facts are that a bipartisan agreement was reached on a budget deal based on what Trump said he would sign. He then refused to sign it. The Republicans refused to negotiate until they got a clear and public message from Trump.  Trump delayed until the Democrats took over and now have to clean up the Republican mess.......................again. Those are the facts.

It was a campaign promise ... remember?, so in that light, he doing what he said he'd do ... much to your chagrin. promise made, a promise 'trying' to keep.

more winning!

I say he gets the money for border security & wall, one way or another.
