Yes, the Kurds had a noble cause, and it would have been nice if they succeeded in breaking away from Assad. But then you have NATO member Turkey accusing the Kurds of being terrorists.

Bottom line - we have to choose our wars wisely -- and avoid civil wars.

As part of the pullout of Syria, Trump could, and should work out an agreement with Turkey concerning the Kurds. Probably not that difficult.

The Turks have every right to accuse the Kurds of being terrorists as they are the PKK in Turkey, and they are terrorists. As I have explained before the Kurds have been the Terrorists in Turkey, Iraq, Iran, Syria and all those  countries have gone after them. Go read my post on the subject or learn about the Kurds. It was the Europeans who created this problem after WW1.

The American People in General - Never get very exercised by all the "Wars" their
Presidents get us involved in mostly illegally - because for one - they are always - Over There.............................some nameless faceless people most Americans have never had any Personal Contact with.

Yes, you got that right. It amazes me how Americans so easily support U.S. military agression, or at least don't oppose it. Is it partially because we're so powerful, that deep down we don't really feel threatened, except by maybe Russia or China.

The rude awakening for me came during the run-up to the war with Iraq. The Bush Administration, with the help of the media (liberal media included) lied us into war. There were some who challenged them, but not many.

Unlike Syria, Congress actually voted on the Iraq War. A small minority in Congress voted against the war.

At the beginning of the Iraq War, only two countries in the world (populace) supported the Iraq invasion -- the U.S. and Israel.

Poll results available from Gallup International, as well as local sources for most of Europe, West and East, showed that support for the Iraq War "unilaterally by America and its allies" did not rise above 11 percent in any country.

Support for a war if mandated by the UN ranged from 13 percent (Spain) to 51 percent (Netherlands).

Gallup Polls in Canada and Great Britain, for example, showed that only 36% and 38% of the citizens of those two countries, respectively, favored U.S. military action against Iraq.

https://news.gallup.com/poll/7834/international-opinion-war-iraq-american-public-opinion-iraq.aspx

In 2003, Spanish prime minister Aznar and his conservative government staunchly threw their support behind the war, despite polls that showed more than 91% of Spaniards were opposed.

https://www.theguardian.com/world/2003/mar/29/spain.iraq

54 countries around the world protested formally against the Iraq War.

In the U.S. Michael Moore was villified for speaking out against the Iraq War. Ron Paul was booed. Phil Donohue was fired by MSNBC. The Dixie Chicks were boycotted.

72% of Americans interviewed in a CNN/USA Today/Gallup poll favored the war against Iraq, while 25% opposed. Roughly the same number approved of the job President George W. Bush was doing.

https://news.gallup.com/poll/8038/seventytwo-percent-americans-support-war-against-iraq.aspx

Those numbers show how out of step we are with the world.

The point I'm trying to make is summed up very well in your Cartoon

The American People in General - Never get very exercised by all the "Wars" their
Presidents get us involved in mostly illegally - because for one - they are always - Over There.............................some nameless faceless people most Americans have never had any Personal Contact with

Now for the First Time - this current President is simply - flipping the script - making the - "Bad Guys" our Next Door Neighbors.......................

The Mexicans - The Hondurans - The Guatemalans - Etc.

Americans Presidents always need a Boogeyman & The American People Allow it

This President is also doing something that a American President hasn't done for a long long time

He's making other Americans Boogeymen

AND

The American People are Allowing Him To Do This Also

One Day - this American President or the next or the one after that - might make you the Boogeyman

I assure you as one who spent 18 months getting to know the Vietnamese - Few of them were Boogeyman - North or South - they just wanted what we all want - to Live their own lives

Yes we buy Shoes from the Vietnamese & they are still Communists which was what allowed Kennedy Johnson & Nixon to characterize them as Bad Guys

Again, you will feel much differently when it's You or some of yours that a American President is Demonizing as the Boogeymen

BOTTOMLINE - American Presidents have too much Power and No One Including the American People are reining them in...................

Thats Very Dangerous - The American Democracy Doesn't Come with a Infinite Expiration Guarantee

The American Democracy might be the longest lasting so far - but so wasn't the one holding the record B4 us

It makes little difference in the Grand Scheme of things - if US Soliders are fighting - Over There or Over Here -

Whats important is - who's calling out the Boogeyman and who's lettimg them do it

If you can't do the time - don't do the Crime

We let US Presidents start Wars & then we just let them up & leave all these big messes behind

Only Congress has the power to start wars according to the US Constitution

This is what happens when Rules & Regulations are OPTIONAL

I Served in Vietnam

I'm so Thankful.........................people like many on this Foum were not there with me or determining Policy

There were So Many South Vietnamese Citizens & Soldiers who put their own lives and the lives of their Familes & Friends in harms way - every single day - Helping Americans

From the Interpreters to the Montagnards - Thousands gave their lives fighting alongside Americans

When the US Government was done in Vietnam they abandoned the The Degar - even the South Vietnamese wanted to kill them

Now we are doing the same thing to the Kurds -

Reinforcing the Stereotype of the Selfish Americans - who take & take & take from others and leave them with nothing

From Natural Resources like Gas & Oil to Human Resources like the Kurds & Montagnards we just go around the World just raping & pillaging - taking what we need - whats in our own best interests

Then we just either discard the people like Chattel walk away & never look back

What Goes Around Comes Around

Should we bring our Soldiers Home - Absolutley - Should we Guarantee that those who were indespensible to our survival are not left to be Slaughtered

Of Course - but we are Glorious Proud Abnoxious Americans - and we don't really give a Expletive about anyone else - when it comes right down to it!

The cost of the war in Syria costs the U.S. $15.3 billion per year.  If the war stops and Donald takes $5 billion for the wall, we saved a substantial amount and get more protection on the Southern border.

Following seven years of war, much of Syria is now in ruins, with homes, schools, hospitals, and factories destroyed.

Syria needs help to rebuild.

Russia and Iran are unlikely to be able to offer the sums needed to rebuild Syria. Enter China.

In addition to the $2 billion Beijing has already pledged to invest in Syrian industry last year, Beijing used a recent China-Arab States Cooperation Forum to announce a further $23 billion in loans and aid for the Arab region (and including $90 million in humanitarian aid to Yemen, Lebanon, Jordan, and Syria).
China’s offer will most likely be only a drop in the ocean for Syria itself. Damascus has calculated that it could cost $195 billion to rebuild the country, while the World Bank estimates that it could be up to $250 billion – four times Syria’s GDP in 2010.
++++++++++
China's support for Syria likely has less to do with sticking it to the U.S. and much more to do with promoting its own interests abroad.
China has managed to stay out of both the U.S. and Russia's way by sticking mostly to reconstruction and economic endeavors.
China has not gotten involved in the fighting, thus no ill will has been created. The Chinese normally keep out of political interference, hence they will succeed.

The region is a key connection for China's Belt and Road, or "One Belt, One Road," Initiative, designed to rebuild and expand China's historic trading routes across Asia and toward Europe and Africa.
