The leaders are chosen to represent the country. In antiquity leaders were chosen based on thier strength. A leader is a person who inspires people to reach great heights of performance and success, a wise person, inclusive and chalanger of fears.

Leaders of yesterday, and leaders of today

Trump inspires two emotions among his base which idolizes him. In their mind they are victims and they are afraid of an array of issues. Maybe that helps explain why Trump's base ignores logic and the truth? Fear is a powerful emotion which blocks one's ability to think logically and clearly.

But something happened to our definition of leaders. Trump would never be characterized as a strong, wise leader. What does he inspire? Fear among the predators when he tweets? Only because people will never anticipate what stupid thing he will do next. What ideologies does he support? Racism? Islamophobia? He strongly believes that all Muslims are terrorists. What kind of leader is this? One that judges an entire culture based on his fears? Thanks to him, lots of people are now seen as terrible persons by the ones who listen to Trump's thoughts in matter of Islam. People are not like us at all and we have to admit it. There are Muslims who are seen as murderers, terrorists, people who only share the traditions of a culture, people who haven't chosen to be born Muslims, but here they are. Trump doesn't seem to think in such a profound way about Muslims.
Now, Trump isn't the only one who thinks like that, there are lots of them. But is bad that one of them has the power of a president, and can do things like splitting families at the border, or banning travel for Muslim countries which are not terrorist, or arguing with the North Korean leader via twitter.
