KidBoy2:

How do teachers' political views influence teaching about controversial issues? Google that.

Get real!

Many times I find that conservatives confuse factual information with a political bias. Example.........when evolution is taught there are religious people who would call that a liberal anti-religious bias when it isn't bias at all, it's just teaching factual information.

If you think any public school or even university sets out to teach "socialism" or any other political or religious "ism" as part of their curriculum, you are very sadly mistaken.

================================================================

Of course they are as you say " sets out to teach "socialism" or any other political or religious "ism" . But some of they instill their political and social leanings in the minds of their young and easily persuaded students.

I suggest that you look into how teachers views are passed on to their students. Is it right..NO...is it new NO...will it continue YES.

Good evening to all-

Once again, I repeat my position: People who know nothing about public education have the most and loudest to say about how the public schools are conducted incorrectly and carried on wrong.

If you think any public school or even university sets out to teach "socialism" or any other political or religious "ism" as part of their curriculum, you are very sadly mistaken. That's not how it works. Teachers and professors in public schools and colleges have curricula- which are always approved by administration- and they work from this. Each teacher will have different points that are made in class, and quite often the teacher's opinion comes out. So what?  Teachers are educated and responsible people, and if their teaching causes students to look at the world in a different way, well, that's what we're supposed to do. That's what schiool is all about.

The ONLY schools and colleges which teach a set doctrine or religious creed are private, religious schools. And these absolutely DO teach a certain point of view and require the students to abide by it or be asked to leave.

Don't fret your public school or university for teaching a philosophy or religious or political belief.  It doesn't happen there. That's done in the private schools.

Good night to all- Ed

The regressives just want to go back to when America was great because blacks had to use separate drinking fountains.

Am I correct that you think learning about diversity is racist? Good grief, how on earth do you come to such a conclusion?

===================================================

Wrong again..grasping at straws again!

Again...

schools teach diversity....in many cases I take to be racism and socialism. But, like you that is my take on our liberal schools. But just look the make up of our colleges. like 90% are liberals...that is very telling and that is a fact that you can not ignore!

"you can not ignore"....but you did!

You do realize you just advocated teaching nothing other than the supremachy of whites and the wealthy, right?

Public school and the military are two socialist systems at work.  Who here has not benefitted from them? Either as a participant, or from the benefit they confer to the nation as a whole?

not sure how socialism became such a dirty word.

Yes, it's amazing, but very predictable. It upsets them that schools teach diversity rather than the glories of bigotry and xenophobia, and that they look to the future instead of remaining in the past. They see this as a threat to conservatism. Not true conservatism, but the ideology that is practised(sic) today by those identifying as conservatives.

The first thing needed to talk about this subject is to understand what socialism is. We have had a form of socialism for the entire history of this country. An example would be fire depts. When cities were first formed so were fire depts. You purchased fire insurance and given a marker to place on your house. If there was a fire in your house the fire dept for that Insurance Co. put it out. The problem was if a fire dept for a different insurance Co arrived first they did nothing. The second problem fires spread to houses that were not covered by the Insurance Co. and were not fought by the fire dept. The system did not work so we got one fire dept to put out all fires, Socialism arrived. Our health insurance is another example. Group of people pay money to an insurance co to cover health care costs. In that group there will be some who never use the coverage, and some who use it big time. That is socialism. People coming together to solve problems that can not be solved alone. That is also why Govts. were formed. Our far right prove the experts correct again.

Not true conservatism, but the ideology that is practised today by those identifying as conservatives--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- It isn`t  about  learning diversity but it should be about people who are different from the majority learning to  assimilate into society that will assure their  future sucess. Colleges and university seem to think the majority should change to accommadate those who are different race or ethnicity. Liberals think keeping people in their own  societal  box works in their political favor in when it comes to elections. Keeping people in their past is more a Democrat endeavor than a Republican`s.
