The headline was ...ICE Detained Man Who Was Driving His Pregnant Wife to a Hospital.

It could have been... ICE arrests illegal that is wanted for murder in Mexico. And then tell the rest of the story.

With one headline it makes ICE look bad...the other shows that ICE is doing their jobs .. a plus for ICE.

As some on the left want to do away with ICE it's not that hard to see where the media was going with "ICE Detained Man Who Was Driving His Pregnant Wife to a Hospital".

The headline does not say they detained a illegal does it?

All that we disagree on is that you think there was some kind of effort to make ICE look bad.  I do not.  Which headline will attract more attention; ICE does its job and arrests an illegal alien, or ICE arrests man driving wife to give birth?

Yes a "film at 11" headline where they talk about new information during their report. So what is fake about this? Headlines are designed to grab peoples attention (headlines from ANY sources), as long as they explain the facts in the story, they are doing their due diligence and reporting accurately. The problem lies in the fact that so many people will simply stop at a headline without looking further into a story, but I don't see that problem as being the fault of the news media.

==============================================================

I never said it was fake news.

You posted " The problem lies in the fact that so many people will simply stop at a headline without looking further into a story, but I don't see that problem as being the fault of the news media." That is the point...every headline was ... ICE Detained Man Who Was Driving His Pregnant Wife to a Hospital.

Like you said many people just read the headline and in this case the headline was making ICE look bad when in fact ICE was doing there job.

The news media has a lot of influence on how people think. That's my point.

I agree, but it is the same issue whether the media is right, center or left.  The purpose of a headline is to grab attention.  The problem lies in the people who stop at a headline and think they know the entire story.

I also saw this story on MSM several times and each time they included that ICE was now saying he was wanted for homicide (his family says mistake, but that makes no difference). So, was the first story you heard before or after ICE added additional information?

==================================================

It was before but later the news was making the big story headline.... ICE Detained Man Who Was Driving His Pregnant Wife to a Hospital....and at the end of the story they mentioned that he was wanted in Mexico to face charges of murder. It shows how the news media can use a story to their thinking....and in this case to make ICE look bad.

ICE Detained Man Who Was Driving His Pregnant Wife to a Hospital

A man was driving his pregnant wife to a scheduled cesarean section on Wednesday when immigration officials arrested him — leaving her to drive herself to a hospital and have the baby on her own, according to the woman and the family’s legal representative.

The couple had pulled into a gas station in San Bernardino, Calif., on their way to deliver their child. While they were there, Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers came to their car window and asked for identification, said the woman, Maria del Carmen Venegas.

Her husband, Joel Arrona-Lara, 35, did not have his driver’s license with him, and officers arrested him, she said.

The arrest quickly provoked outrage and fed into a growing anger toward ICE and the Trump administration’s sweeping immigration policies, which have expanded who is considered a priority for officers to arrest. In recent months, immigrants have been arrested while delivering a pizza or watering the lawn.

On Saturday, ICE said in a statement that Mr. Arrona-Lara, a citizen of Mexico, was in the United States illegally. Later, the agency released a second statement saying he was wanted for homicide in his home country. “Mr. Arrona-Lara was brought to ICE’s attention due to an outstanding warrant issued for his arrest in Mexico on homicide charges,” the statement said.

This is a good example of how the news media uses a TRUE story to make a person, company, political party, government agency, etc. look like the "bad" guys.

I saw this story on CBS and they did not mention that Mr. Arrona-Lara was wanted for murder in Mexico.  They made it sound like ICE were nasty people and ICE was doing their job!

And yet some posters still adopt a cute little Shirley Temple as a child attitude and say, "What biased press?".

Ah, the sweet innocence of the left!!
