Are you accusing the Office of Professional Responsibility of being partisan?

Hit Back and Hit Back Hard

One cannot expect a member of the Trump Cult to get outraged by the horrible behavior of his idol and hero in the White House. The rest of us are angry that such a despicable man is allegedly operating as President of the United States.

Vladimir Putin is celebrating every day in the Kremlin as he watched Trump fulfill almost everything he wants from an American President.

Agreed. I have never seen such viciousness from the losing Party. It seems like they think they can get their agenda via the "Resistance" rather than the ballot booth.

I feel the same. My hope is that Mueller is sewing a very intricate, very heavy net that when dropped will securely trap dt and the bleeding can finally stop. Until the president is put away that won't happen.

Trump's pettiness and meanness is on full display:

  • He denies a dedicated public servant his pension 24 hours before he would qualify.
  • He dismisses his Secretary of State on Twitter, without the courtesy of an interview. Tillerson, former CEO of Exxon-Mobil, was a much more powerful man than Trump in private life.
  • James Comey learns of his firing on television as he is doing FBI business in California. Trump wanted to deny him even a ride back to Washington on the government plane.
  • He humiliates Reince Preibus by firing him on the tarmac after both returned on Air Force One from a trip to Mar-a-Lago. Preibus is escorted ignominously away as Trump and other passengers get in the presidential car.
  • Let's never forget that he denied medical treatment to the infant son of his nephew when the latter objected to being cut out of his grandfather's will by Trump. His nephew's son was suffering from severe epileptic seizures that threatened his life and would eventually leave him with cerebral palsy. Withholding of treatment was blackmail, but Trump today sees nothing wrong with it. His statement to an interviewer: "They came after me, so I went after them."

And that's how Trump operates. That's the kind of man he is.

When Trump said to his WH staff "Where's my Roy Cohn?" he meant where's my mobster no-holds-barred fixer.

Trump's ultimate target is the Mueller investigation itself. Trump's next move will be to try to replace Sessions with a supporter who will not recuse himself from oversight, either circumscribing Mueller's investigation, ending it, or defunding it. Another option would be for Trump to move against Rod Rosenstein, who currently has oversight after Sessions' recusal. He wants to shut Mueller down.

Trump also wants to end the independence of the Justice Department and the FBI. He sees all departments in the executive branch as serving him, just as the Trump Organization has always served him.

There has never been a time in my life when I feared for the survival of our democracy. I do today.

Today McCabe was terminated by AG Jeff Sessions 24 hours before he would qualify for his FBI pension. McCabe devoted 21 years to the FBI, but Trump complained bitterly that McCabe would be able to retire with full benefits when he forced his resignation as acting FBI Director. This move is a warning to anyone else at the FBI or Justice Department who goes up against Trump--do so, and lose everything.

McCabe's only sin is that he was party to information detrimental to Trump and he refused to compromise his integrity. Trump is rounding up his enemies.

Hit Back and Hit Back Hard

That was the advice given to a young Donald Trump by his mentor and consigliere, the infamous Roy Cohn, known to most Americans for his role as chief counsel to Senator Joe McCarthy but also known in New York as the lawyer for the Gotti crime family.

Trump always remembered this advice, even though he would abandon and betray Roy Cohn as he laying dying of AIDS. When Trump fell into disputes with contractors, employees or investors, he brought a hammer down on his opponents with a countersuit designed to destroy. It was one of the foremost tools in the amassing of his fortune, whatever his net worth might be.

Now Trump is bringing the same kind of hammer down on the Mueller investigation, specifically on Andrew McCabe, the former acting FBI Director and witness to James Comey's testimony about his meeting with Trump. To discredit that testimony, Trump is willing to destroy McCabe.
