No one seems to want to deal with government control that goes with that "free" medical care and education.

I wonder why.

Why do Conservatives think that as soon as the government manages something it becomes "free"?

When you say "no one" aren't you leaving out the billions of people in other developed countries who have such a system with lower costs and better outcomes?  How about the millions of Americans who voted for Hillary and Sanders with the understanding they would save the ACA?

Finally, would someone please point me to the link outlining how the party-of-no will provide health care to all our residents?  Perhaps they plan to mail out a $5 off coupon on their first doctor's visit?

If the government is going to pay for healthcare, do you not think they should have some effect on unhealthy activities?

And, if the government is going to provide free education, don't you think they should direct the students towards classes that they are qualified for and to fields where they can repay society for their education by becoming productive members?

Do you really think that all public school students in the 1950s and 1960s were directed to certain classes and fields where they could repay society for their education?

I have an idea for you, since you can find Venezuela not only on a map, but presumably on the planet, plus you think socialism is great. You should maybe consider moving to Venezuela. You can report to us about how great is the socialist system. Prove us wrong. Lead by your most excellent and trustworthy, not to mention brilliant, example.

Bon voyage!

Venezuela is not a socialist country. It is a country lead by a dictator and ruled by the oligarchy.

It seems that many on the right are hoping that this country follow Venezuela's example.

There never was a Communist country, so we have no absolute proof it won't work, but the fact it's never actually been tried is a pretty good indication it won't, hence any discussion of improving the economic condition of Americans must not waste time talking about non-existant Communism.

There were some Socilaist states, but they've disappeared anywhere there's a democracy, so that too needs to be ignored when discussing American economic policies and programs.

Once you get rid of the slanders, the question boils down to "what makes a country GREAT, and what makes it one of "those" countries Trump rails about.

Both the ancient Roman and Mongal cultures ruled vast areas, but virtually nobody can argue the average Mongal had a life style nearly as good as the average Roman Citizen.

The Mogals had a fantastic military, and young men could rape and pilage everywhere they went and take home the spoils - but only the Great Khan took it home to Xanadu - everybody else was lucky to have a Yurt and a goat.

The Romans had a fantastic military, and lived with palacial public baths, great schools for them and their kids, pure running water and sanitation, police protection and courts, free bread and circus's that made it possible for 2 million people to occupy a single city - Rome - or live elsewhere in the Empire and enjoy similar ammenities.

The Mogals paid tribute to The Khan who kept it for himself.

All those "services" in ancient Rome were paid for by the very wealthy through a series of taxes but ALL the Citizens shared in the serices.

Now we come to today, and what is it Americans think makes us "Great".

Republicans think its having lots of Nukes and Billionaires

Democrats think its all citizens enjoying a good life free to practice their religion, air their greivences, live free from fear and enjoy a comfortable life, free from want.

Both "thoughts" carry the identical pricetag. Which is the better deal?

Cool!!! Mongol culture, Xanadu, yurts and goats - but what do you think about "free" healthcare and "free" education - will the government be involved in more than paying the bills?

Let's look at this "free" healthcare and "free" education idea - understanding that it really isn't free - it's just that someone else is paying for it.

If the government is paying for your healthcare, and since some life style issues are detrimental to your health - will the government have the power to adjust those life style issue.

Education - many students drive up incredible debt on degrees that they are not suited for and there are no jobs for. Will the government determine, based on the individual's abilities and the needs of the economy which courses are taken by which students?

So, when they yell "But he's a SOCIALIST".

With the Trump saga we're getting a good look of how money changes hands behind closed doors.

What people pay for access, the inside track, to push their legislation or agenda, including dark money, mafia money, corrupt money from all over the world.

What they want is access to the public coffers, they want power, because power can translate into money, and money is power. It's a self feeding cycle.

So far as I'm concerned what the right talks about the " takers " and socialism they're being hypocritical.

No one works the system like the 1%, in fact for many that is how they became part of that club.

PS @Richva  Life is unfair. I was born with more fast twitch muscles than most. This makes me a better athlete than most. Question is this: what am I going to do with this gift? Use it or squander it?

Yes, life is unfair, but in America opportunity exists for those who grab it.

Circle bar participation awards. You want it, get your rear off the couch and go get it.
