Re: Harris Poll: 77% Blame China for Virus

It really doesn't matter where this originated, China or elsewhere.

What matters is how trump and his administration have handled this and they have handled it terribly. Our Military Intelligence informed the White House about the pandemic developing in November of last year. Trump had plenty of time to prepare America for this. Instead, he denied, he did nothing to get test kits back in December or January and he failed to order medical equipment of order American companies to manufacture what we needed until after the virus had already gained a foothold in America. His denial and  delayed action have cost thousands of American lives.  Period.

Not sure about that first figure.  This is the question that most resembles that claim.  If there is another in the poll, please post it.

Also, if a pandemic disease started here, should we be responsible for reparations and should other countries limit their trade with us?

I found it on pg. 219. (Just 2 pages further, @ManicProgressive .)

As I was scrolling through all the pages, I noted other interesting results.

Pg.83 - Q24 How trustworthy do you think each of the following sources are to provide accurate information regarding the coronavirus outbreak?

While the WH/president did rate above 50%, they only beat out Social Media for being more trustworthy, falling behind national/local media, state and local governments, and medical experts.

Also, it would appear that even when the government provides info that the spread of the virus is flattening out, not that many Americans are ready to immediately jump out there and resume most everyday activities.  Other than returning to the office, most say 2 - 6 months.

Good reason to quit televising the Trump political rallies. Too many people are accepting his lies.

Harris Poll: 77% Blame China for Virus

People can believe whatever they want, but that doesn't mean they're correct. Right now, the origin of the virus is probably China, but that's still only a theory. Scientists have an array of theories on where the virus came from, but none of them are proven scientific fact.

More than three-quarters of Americans blame China for the coronavirus pandemic that started in the Chinese city of Wuhan last year, according to a new poll.

With nearly 1.5 million people worldwide infected with the COVID-19 virus and with the death toll at almost 85,000 as of Wednesday morning, Americans are placing the blame squarely on China.

Key figured in the poll results, which were  released Wednesday:

  • 77% of those polled, including 67% of Democrats, said China is to blame for the virus.
  • 71% said U.S. companies should pull back from manufacturing their goods in China.
  • 69% are in favor of President Donald Trump's tough trade stance on China.
  • 54% said China should pay reparations to other countries for the spread of the COVID-19 virus.
