The morning edition of the Honolulu Star-Advertiser had a picture of the ravaged Notre Dame Cathedral: so far so good. But the headline read "Notre Dame is Beheaded," a reference to the collapsed spire. The word beheaded, unfortunately has a sinister overtone, considering ISIS uses that terror tactic to horrifiy the West and its sympathizers. Did radical Islam light the conflagration? There is no evidence of such an attack. Using the word beheaded is a baseless attempt (red meat) to smear Muslims or an inadvertent blunder. Either way, the normally liberal-minded newspaper needs to apologize.
