That is a super question/suggestion Richva !! We also could somehow put a sir-tax on the weapons manufacturers for the same purpose.
I doubt your "sir-tax" would raise any money since I can't imagine any weapon being manufactured for the purpose of slaughtering children.

@Olderscout66wrote:Because of Republican budget cutting, the FBI call center that received the warning about the Florida scum IS A CONTRACTOR OPERATION.
Computer Science Corp and NOT the FBI is responsible for the day to day operation of the call center that failed to pass on the warning about the Florida scum-shooter.
Once again the inefficiency Der Trumper ranted about has NOTHING to do with the employees of the FBI - it, like so many other **bleep**-ups blamed on Feds, was the action of a non-Government employee working for a contractor who had promised to do a better job for no more than 110% of what the Government workers had been doing.
See what a great deal it is when GOPer-driven directives require out-sourcing Government jobs so a contractor can get rich while the folks actually doing the work do so without the pay, benefits, sick and annual leave or retirement that had been enjoyed by the Government workers they replaced. As a rule, those workers get about half what the workers got so the boss gets 50 times as much as the gov't Administrators did.
For some reason (perhaps being denied all that stuff so the boss gets richer faster) these contractor operations often cause folks to not be quite so dedicated as they might, or perhaps come in when they should stay home sick because they get no sick leave.
Lots of question to be answered that no NRAGOPer will allow anyone to ask.
Two thoughts - 1) you seem to know something that the FBI spokesperson didn't. 2) how can you object to contracting out? In your "workers paradise" everything will be run by the government and therefore "contracted out".

Re: GOP responsible for FBI missing call about Cruz
@ManicProgressive—We had three schools shut down the next day due to threats of “copycat” violence. One was a school I worked at for over twenty years. Our Sherriff’s Dept. responded to all—FBI notified as well.
How sad that our children know that simply going to school can cost them their lives.
Gee, I miss having a real president!

Great ideas, but lets start by demanding Congress repeal the NRAGOP law that says the manufacture cannot be held responsible for the deaths their product causes. Then we could consider repealing the Reagan and Lemontop taxscams, balance the budget and use the huge surplus to modify all the semi-auto guns so you had to "pull back the hammer" before every shot, and hire actual FBI employees to run their call centers.

If that is true, it happened (6) years ago when the FBI consolidated some of their call centers. They are still under direct control of the agents at the center.
USAToday 02/18/2018 - More about the FBI tip-line that failed in the Florida shooting
WASHINGTON – Until FBI Director Christopher Wray acknowledged Friday that the bureau’s tip line failed to act on crucial information about Nikolas Cruz more than a month before last week’s massacre at a school in Florida, the busy call center had operated in near-anonymity from its hub in rural West Virginia.
Nearly 4 million telephone calls and emails have poured into the so-called Public Access Line since the operations were consolidated six years ago.
The program, which grew out of the FBI’s effort to combat massive fraud spawned by Hurricane Katrina in 2005, was aimed at centralizing separate call centers at all 56 field offices across the country — freeing up more agents to work the streets.
The article goes on to describe what happens when a call or tip comes into the center.
Looks like the real world tells us it did not work. Time for change.

Yep - outsourcing works, doesn't it?
The GOP has been outsourcing it's capacity to tell whether the Russians are interferring with multiple aspects of the country - and it shows...

Re: GOP responsible for FBI missing call about Cruz
Yeah, that’s not cool.
i would like to add, however, as someone who works with police, that if you are concerned about someone, call your local police. Call both if you want. But the local department will respond better, and can call in the FBI if needed. Not blaming anyone. And I don’t know if people did in fact call police.
We had 12 gun related school incidents in our county the next day, on the 15th. And someone called the police in those circumstances, and fortunately they were all handled without incident.
And the whole contractor thing with the FBI is very disconcerting. In my experience, professional law enforcement truly care about their community. Not so sure about paid contractors.
