GOP Fails voters in Georgia

It is sad indeed when State officials are proven incompetent.   Not only that, the people that they harm are the citizens of their own State.    What is weird is that the Election Polls appeared to have no problems during Early Voting, but there are numerous problems today with equipment failures, equipment not delivered to the correct location, the electronic database not working, etc.

If this was the first day of early voting, I could be a bit more generous, as the State just spent hundreds of thousands, oops 104M dollars on new equipment.    IMO, this is a problem that is laid at the feet of the current regime, which happens to be Republicans.

Yet another reason to allow all citizens to Vote by Mail.   Even in Texas the Supreme Court has left lots of wiggle room in who can Vote by Mail - regardless of the headlines that many outside of TX may 'quote".

I hope all watched TV this  evening to get the real full story on what happened with the election.

1. It was a lot worse in the mostly black areas.

2. They used all new election equipment.

3. The equipment was purchased from a small supplier who never had this large an order, and did not have the people working for it to train or handle the problems the introduction of the equipment state wide. The State was warned by experts in this field of what would happen and did not listen some time ago.

4. There was a board of experts set up by the State to review the bids on supplying the equipment. That board did not recommend that this Co get the contract.

5. The former Campaign Manager of the now Gov. got a new job when he left his old job. It was with the Co that got the contract and his new employer had its largest sale ever. It was in the millions.

Looks like a nice payoff by the Reb. State Officials, and it fits in with Reb. plans to make vetoing harder this fall. Ga. leads the way in voter suppression.   The best full story on TV this evening was MSNBC Rachel Maddow. Go watch it.

PS: In Iowa Reb. State they had a very good election this spring. Largest number vetoing ever in a Primary due to use of mail in voting . It was so good the Reb. in the State Legislature are trying to pass laws to end most mail in voting for Nov. Major newspapers in State going after the Reb. for trying to stop people from voting.

You see part of the Trump plan to steal the Nov. election.

Statewide Voting Implementation Manager Gabriel Sterling fired back at the DeKalb CEO, who placed the blame of voting issues starting with the Secretary of State’s office.

“That the Dekalb County CEO doesn’t seem to know that training poll workers and equipping polling places is a responsibility that Georgia law places squarely on the county goes a long way to explain the issues that we saw today in Dekalb. See OCGA 21-2-70 (Each superintendent within his or her county shall:… (4) selection and equip polling places…, (8) instruct poll officers and others in their duties, and to inspect systematically and thoroughly the conduct of primaries and elections in the several precincts of his or her county to the end that primaries and elections may be honestly, efficiently, and uniformly conducted). The Secretary of State’s office is tasked with providing training to the superintendents, who then train their poll workers and county election officials. The fact that the egregious issues we are seeing today seem to be limited to a few precincts in a couple counties suggests that the breakdown occurred at the county level. The other 157 counties faced the same difficulties of using a new system and voting during a pandemic, but they seem to have handled the issues that arose diligently and efficiently."

FYI

Running polls is a county responsibility. .. and the problems are with the demoncrat run counties.

Sounds like the GOP in Georgia is following the example set by Tweetybird and taking no responsibility. When the SoS implements a  completely new state wide system like this it is the SoS responsibility to make sure the systems are working and that staff training has been delivered by knowledgable teachers.

Nope, sorry hoss... you've got it backwards as usual.  Georgia laws/regs CLEARLY outline who's the responsible entity is and the law reference was included in the Sos response. 157 counties and  2 had issues. Care to guess which ones? It's included in the link.

Feel free to do some independent research.

Another FYI...

Georgia mailed out absentee ballot requests to every registered voter who participated in the 2016 presidential election.

That was done by republicans.
