GM just read the headlines: "people are buying SUVs and not Chevy Impalas".

News flash: SUVs are also made of steel, which still costs 25% more under the Trump trade war no matter what you manufacture.

Sheesh.

No kidding!

“There’s about one ton of steel in a car,” Ross said on CNN. “The price of a ton of steel is $700 or so, so 25 percent on that would be one half of 1 percent price increase on the typical $35,000 car. So it’s no big deal.”

In his estimate, that would amount to a roughly $175 price increase on a car.

You need to understand how business works. The increase in the price of steel is one factor and GM warned Trump about tariffs being used. He used them and they are closing 3 plants in the US that is fact. You do know GM has a big operation in China. Buick is one of the most popular cars there. Once again the enablers prove the experts correct.

ManicProgressive,

Thank you so much for your reply to my post. Trump can't even take responsibility for the plant closures. He was blaming the interest rate on the news last night.

But did you notice their sales are UP?

Overall, though, GM sales are down....

We aren’t. So much of an American car has Chinese and other foreign parts in it.... tariffs hurt everyone and everything.

What happened to trump's promise to bring these kind of jobs back to America? What happened to his promise that big corporate tax cuts would create jobs in big industries? What happened to his use of tariffs as a "negotiation technique"?  GM lost over a $Billion$ as a result of the tariffs.

So much for trump's promises.

They did warn Trump that tariffs would have a negative impact on auto jobs. Here is a Forbes article projecting a 10% decrease in auto sales because of them. I can't wait until we have a president who reads.

I can't wait until we have a liberal President that thinks!

I have to believe you did not mean that statement the way it reads.
