I support "Kate's Law" ...  Look it up.

VIMTSTL-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------I wonder if Obama will ever call Kate`s parents to express his sympathy. If he can call parents of minorities who were breaking the law and  were killed ,and express his sorrow at least he could do the same for a innocent white girl.

There is no doubt that immigrants are needed probably in most of the Countries in this world. But, what we don't need is immigration with no limitations. And that is what we don't have. Trump has brought to the surface the issue of a broken system, that should be resolved. Whether you happen to agree with Trump or not, You will have to agree that the immigration issue is really broken in this country and it needs fixing. Ialso would like to point out thatTrump is probably the best thing that has happened in these elections for the Democratic. Party, therefore I urge you guys in here to stop bashing the Donald.

After almost 7 years of Obama  ignoring our border problem, it took the death of a innocent girl to finally get the majority of the people to notice we have a serious illegal alien problem. We have 15,000    illegals crowding our prison system and most of them will stay in this country when they get out. Trump is riding the wave of people who finally had enough and if he is able outlast the majority of Republicans who are running for President he will have an easy victory over Hillary who has the same mind set as Obama     . The Democrats will have themselves to blame for welcoming ,with open arms ,all the illegals in this country.

I agree with everyhting you said except for one thing. "Whatever positive things Trump has done" is in error. Trump has never done anything positive.

He has ruined many people in the wake of his four (4) corporate bankrupcies while coming out financially to the good in three of them.

He has ruined Atlantic City. The government of Atlantic City helped, but he was a contributor.

He can't keep it in his pants being a two time loser in the marriage department. I guess in this instance, it is good he does have a lot of money.

He doesn't know how to be diplomatic, you can't be President and just spew out of your mouth anything you want to.

Why is he so popular. Because people are confusing a reality show with real life just as they did with Palin.

If he is the nominee, Lord help us.

Part of lk's rant..

Following the loss in the 2012 presidential election, Louisiana governor Bobby Jindal (now a member of the 2016 Republican clown bus) said that the Republican party needed to stop being the "stupid party". Well, heading into the 2016 election, the Republican party has gone beyond being the "stupid party" to being the "crazy party".

And you seem to be on the Democratic clown bus ... a bus that is trying to drive us into dependency....the Democratic "hook" to get votes.

Jimmy doesn't get it, the issue with Trump is not illegal immigration. I don't know anybody who approves of illegal immigration. The issue with Trump is almost everything he said was wrong! He's stupid, just like Sara Palin, but he's very entertaining.

And while making one false statement after another, the side issue of insulting an entire group of people also arose.

The first sentence of the originating essay is not accurate.

The Donald's "rant" , as you call it, was specifically aimed at "illegal" immigration.  We are a nation of laws that need to be enforced.  Should the nation decide the current law needs to be changed, then congress has work to do.  In the event the congress is locked in a stalemate, they need to be voted out.  Until then, the law needs to be enforced.

All one needs to do is look at every developed nation and try crossing into that country without following the law to see where it get you.

Illegal immigration is not the same as immigration that follows legal protocol.

Although Donald Trump has almost no chance of getting the Republican nomination, the fact that he has surged in the polls among the crowded field of GOP wannabees speaks volumes about the type of voters that the Republican party is attracting. Back in the 1960s and earlier, the racists and segregationists belonged to the Democratic party, mostly in the south and some among working class northerners. But now all those type of voters that fed George Wallace's 1968 presidential campaign have migrated to the Republican party.

Whatever positive things that Donald Trump has done has now been largely forgotten with his racist rant and presidential campaign. Most Americans have become disgusted with Donald Trump and what he stands for, except a few knuckle dragging neanderthals who believe his rants.

After the 2012 Republican presidential campaign that seemed to drag on and devolved into a circus of "flavor of the month" candidates, the GOP said that they wanted to avoid such a circus in the 2016 campaign. Well, so much for good intentions. The 2016 Republican clown bus now stands at 15 and is expected to grow by one more today.

With all the posturing and wacky things being said by the members of the 2016 Republican clown bus, no doubt that the Democratic party is looking more like the adults in the act. It was almost comical listening to what the 2016 Republican presidential candidates had to say following the Supreme Court's decision on same sex marriage. Do those people ever listen to themselves?

Five Reasons Why the United States Needs Immigrants more than Donald Trump

With his racist rant against Mexican immigrants, billionaiire Donald Trump has brought the subject of immigration back into the 2016 presidential campaign. Unfortunately, The Donald's racism appeals to a certain neanderthal who has blamed immigrants for most of what is wrong with the country. Whether it was the Irish immigrants of the 1840s or the Italian and Polis immigrants of the 1890s or the immigrants from the middle east and Latin America of the 2010s; anti immigrant sentiment has always been with us.

But unless you are 100% native American Indian, you are descended from someone who came to the United States from somewhere else. Whether your ancestors came here in the hold of a slave ship or the hold of a steamer from Europe or sailing ship from England; all of us (except native American Indians) are descended from people who came here from somewhere else, even Donald Trump.

But the truth is that the United States needs immigrants far more than the country needs someone like Donald Trump. Here is an interesting article citing five reasons why it may make more sense to deport Donald Trump than immigrants. Read on:

Of course, immigration is a serious issue, but not for any of the reasons trumpeted by Trump.

The undocumented population from Mexico has declined from its George W. Bush-era peak. And that, combined with crime being at its lowest rate since 1978, presents a real opportunity to pass reform that benefits our economy. We could then focus law enforcement on policing and deporting actual criminals, not millions of law-abiding immigrants.

1. People like Trump crashed our economy.

Immigrants didn’t issue millions of bad mortgages, bundle them and then sell them to suckers, leading to the loss of trillions in wealth and 8 million jobs. Speculators like Donald Trump did. And though the richest were among those who helped engineer the crash, they’re also among the very few Americans who are soaking up the gains of the recovery.

Our nation’s greatest economic problem is income inequality. It’s slowing our growth, depressing our economic mobility, andcorrupting our democracy. The idea that the rich know best for America has resulted in one thing: The richest getting richer.

That’s the point of Donald Trump’s candidacy and the goal of the Republican Party. And it’s wrecking our middle class.

2. People like Trump are polarizing our government.

Republicans told themselves to pass immigration reform after losing in 2012. When a bipartisan bill passed the Senate — a bill that would have doubled the number of border patrol agents — the House GOP refused to vote on it. Instead they voted to deport law-abiding undocumented immigrants, over and over.

Why? The House GOP does not need to win one Latino vote to keep its majority. And while Latinos care about far more than immigration, the issue is hugely consequential and symbolic, as it shows whether your outstretched hand is open to new Americans, or making a fist.

3. Unlike Trump, immigrants have every interest in steering clear of wrongdoing.

Every murder is a tragedy, but Trump’s attempt to turn Juan Francisco Lopez-Sanchez into a new Willie Horton betrays a cynical dismissal of reality that rises on a pungent cloud of xenophobia and opportunism.

“We know that as a group, immigrants are actually much less likely to commit crimes than native-born Americans,” Paul Waldman wrote in the Washington Post.

The logic is pretty simple. Immigrants come here to work to support themselves and their families. Going to jail or back to Mexico screws this plan up. Avoiding law enforcement is the goal, to the point that crimes against the undocumented often go unreported, to avoid the risk of deportation. The exploitation of those in the shadows by criminals and employers is one huge reason that humanitarian groups and the Catholic Church support reform.

4. Immigration reform will extend the life of Social Security.

Donald Trump could help extend the life of America’s retirement guarantee by arguing that people like him who have benefited the most from America should pay into Social Security on all their income, the way the middle class does.

Since the current Republican Party exists to make sure rich people don’t pay taxes, this simple fix to the country’s most invaluable social program isn’t likely. But the Senate passed a bill in 2013 that could have extended Social Security — immigration reform.

5. Immigrants can help solve our biggest economic problems.

Given that President Obama has led the longest private sector expansion in American history—which has seen the unemployment rate cut faster and more dramatically than even Mitt Romney promised, as we’re on pace for the second-highest number of jobs ever created in one president’s term

Republicans have to find other numbers to whine about. Their current fixation is the labor force participation rate. It is falling, as it has for decades, mostly because those pesky Baby

Boomers actually thought we were serious when we said Americans should be able to retire.

I know Republicans just like to complain instead of trying to solve problems. But if they really want to increase labor force participation, immigration reform is the way to do it. Immigrants have showed a higher labor participation rate recently, and could help replace — and support — the legions of retiring Americans.
