How  about a good follow up on student visas,  regular tourist visas. H1B  visas. and simply clean up the court system that is so polluted that it has ceased to function as a viable immigration court system,.

Agreed - we do not need a Hungarian monstrosity. We need an American thing of beauty. That is why it is great that the President arranged for a variety of structures to be evaluated for effectiveness and eye appeal.

And, yes, border security is expensive. But, it is a necessity.

Those countries in Europe have a refugee control problem. They do not have the illegal imagrant problem we have. Why?

Those countries enforce thier federal worker laws.

That wall may manage the problem. Enforcing our federal worker laws will end it.

Agreed - a wall can be a part of a comprehensive border security and worked laws do need to be enforced. As part of the worker enforcement, we need to take a hard look at the worker visa program to ensure it provides the needed foreign workers in a timely fashion.

Nearly 45,000 annual deaths are associated with lack of health insurance, according to a new study published online today by the American Journal of Public Health. That figure is about two and a half times higher than an estimate from the Institute of Medicine (IOM) in 2002.

The study, conducted at Harvard Medical School and Cambridge Health Alliance, found that uninsured, working-age Americans have a 40 percent higher risk of death than their privately insured counterparts, up from a 25 percent excess death rate found in 1993.

That's 45,000 dead AMERICANS each year because Republicans have blocked Universal, Single-payer plans and instead worked to cripple Obamacare.

You hear about the wait times in Canada and occasional deaths in the UK because Republicans want you to focus on that instead of the 45,000 Americans THEIR opposition to universal health care kill each year. That's even more dead Americans than are caused by the NRAGOP refusal to consider sane gun control.

Interesting - you see people dying of natural causes as being related to border security and gun control. Could you close the gap on that?

1. The problem Hungary faced was HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS of migrants fleeing the war in Syria back in 2015.

2. The fence is only 10km (6 miles) long, and while it slowed the flow of war refugees to a trickle, the wall and the additional security personal to man it cost Hungary over 1 BILLION EUROS, about $1.22B, IN THE FIRST YEAR.

3. Hungary plans to finish their fence, adding another 85 miles, using prison labor to hold down the construction costs to ONLY 123 Billion Euros ($150B US) or $1.8 Billion per mile.

4. The wall Der Trumper proposes is a minimum of 900 miles, and using the Hungarian experience as a guide it would cost $1.7 TRILLION to build and $183Billion each year to maintain.

Only the most demented will be unable to think of a THOUSAND better things to do with $1.7 Trillion, and those who can't are all Republicans. We need to stop electing such unimaginative (except when it comes to Conspiricy Theories) folks before they decide the SSTF would be a great source of funds for this wall of theirs so they won't have to tax any rich people to build it.

As  usual;  kneeling to their donors. Why would they change anything when doing something will hurt their donors. And let's be  fair, this is a s much a Republican and Democrat failure  I can guarantee that we will be speaking about Immigration Reform for years to come

They could try what Germany is doing.  Meeting with several communities around the US who have experienced rapid increases in immigrant populations, and looking at how the government and community organizations collaborate to help integrate immigrants into the local community.

O.K. you have to get the "USSR: meme in there - still clinging to the mostly abandoned "Russian collusion" claim, but if something works, it works regardless of who said so. Example, this morning the Washington Post and the Washington Times both said that today is Friday. By your logic, it is ...... and it isn't Friday.

Did "we" all figure that out too?

This story has to be the most stupid justification for  building a wall I have read.  Is this fence working in Hungary?  Not sure, lets ask the people who lobbied for those fences.  I wonder what they will say.

Why don't conservatives suggest universal healthcare or solid gun control based on what Europeans have done that works?  ''

Maybe you didn't hear about the UK boy who died because they forced him to stay even though doctors here (in U.S.) volunteered to help. Yes, medical checkups work real well. Get ill, not so much. I see Canadians who come to the U.S. for quick appointments for things that they must wait 6 months for (like MRIs).

If liberals love the European way, go there. I reckon you'll return. Same for gun control.  Now they have knife control in the UK. Maybe car control soon.  Please go there and see if you really like it.
