Nope ... I am saying that Republicans have a problem with giving non wealthy people something extra

Why should they get something "extra" (with someone else paying for it)?  Is it you want an incentive for NOT WORKING?

My son had an assistant troubleshooting laptops, etc used in a private school that was laid off.  Now the guy has been making more unemployed ($600 a week) than he was paid while working. Most working isn't making that much.

What's the incentive to return to employment if the reward is greater NOT WORKING?  Obviously, the Democrats think this is a good policy but you and I think not.

They don't want to KILL it, they want to modify it - a flat amount of about $200 or a proportion that would give the unemployed employees about 70% of their regular pay.

The way they want to modify it kills it. It has worked well at 600 and really saved the Govt. money based on the figures being released now. Even Trump now supports it per his Sec. of Treasury. It is the 20 far right Reb. Sen who oppose it.

The house  (Dems) passed the bill 2 months ago, and the Senate could have done the same. The far right Reb. at work doing their best to hurt people.

@ManicProgressive    It is very dangerous when people because of their lack of experience cannot see that societies react in the same manner when the circumstaces    are the same. And hunger  has been the tool and the motivation for all the revolutions and the anarchies that we have seen world wide.

Wealthy ? Are you saying that a person that is fortunate enough to have a higher pay should not get a comparable unemployment benefit?

Nope ... I am saying that Republicans have a problem with giving non wealthy people something extra ..... people who could really use the money .....  while they have no problem doling out more money to the wealthy ... people who don't need the money because they're already wealthy.

Most of our citizenry believes that hunger only affects people who are lazy or people who are just looking for a handout, people who don’t want to work, but, sadly, that is not true. Over one-third of our hungry people are innocent children who are members of households that simply cannot provide enough food or proper nutrition. And to think of the elderly suffering from malnutrition is just too hard for most of us. Unlike Third World nations, in our country the problem is not having too little – it is about not caring enough! Write your elected representatives and promote support for the hungry.

Expeectin Riots

Make it to hard on poor people and they'll cook billionaires in the ashes of their mansions and eat them.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/business/2020/07/13/unemployment-payment-delays/

Workers are pushed to the brink as they continue to wait for delayed unemployment payments

The States need this money to keep their economies  going,  reducing or eliminating unemployment benefits is not going to make things better, it will make things worse.

It cost less to feed people then is does to fight them.
