Police , Fire , Schools , Ambulance & Hospital Service are paid for by real estate taxes (state taxes). Todays conservative agenda - don't spend money that you don't have!

Lots of federal money too.

EXTRA INCOME MEANS A LOT TO MANY AMERICANS

Is anyone surprised that Not Happening could not admit he was wrong? He foolishly divided the percentage into the total population, as opposed to only those who file tax returns. But there's a reason he cherishes and worships Donald Trump, neither one can ever admit they made a mistake.

NH lives in the alternate reality of Trump World. Not Happening incorrectly based his percentages on the total population.

Hello NH! The calculation should have been on the percentage of TAX PAYERS.

One tax return doesn't = one taxpayer! A fact that the Obama/Hillary cult can't seem to comprehend!

This is for Not Happening:

The White House and the House Ways and Means Committee declined to provide an exact number of how many more Americans they expect would pay nothing on their federal taxes under the House bill, so The Washington Post asked tax analysts to calculate it.

If nothing changed in tax policy, 43.9 percent of tax filers (74.7 million filers) would pay zero in taxes in 2018.

If the House GOP plan becomes law, that would rise to 47.5 percent (80.8 million), according to Ernie Tedeschi, a managing director at Evercore ISI and former economist at the Treasury Department under Obama. Tedeschi ran the numbers using the Open Source Policy Center tax model that was created by the American Enterprise Institute, a right-leaning think tank.

Since you left no link and you and I know that there are single filers and married filers. If (assuming your number is correct) that 43.9% of filers paid no tax, I don't know how many filers filed single or married, so you can't determine the number of PEOPLE that paid no tax. I wouldn't expect more from Washington Post but it seems to satisfy the liberals!

The Patriotic Millionaires believe the country will be more stable and more prosperous when all of its citizens are authentically engaged in the governance process, rather than ceding control to a small number of self-interested actors.

We believe that the trend of growing economic inequality is both bad for society and bad for business. We believe revenue models that rely on human misery should be exorcised from our economy. We believe the government should mandate a livable wage for all working Americans, rather than relying on “the market” which has failed to realize that goal over 240 years of American history. We believe a national “living wage” law will ensure a stable level of aggregate demand, which will fuel our economy more broadly, ushering in a new era of prosperity for all Americans, including rich ones.

We believe our nation’s social and economic progress requires significant and constant public investment, and that the wealthy, who benefit the most from our country’s assets and institutions, should naturally and gladly pay the greatest share of whatever taxes are needed to support that investment.

Oh, I want to be a millionaire so I can join their group.

Mick's post was a good one but he left out some of the most important results of the GOP tax bill and Trump's insane Global Trade War.

  • Because the government has to borrow almost $2 Trillion to pay for the new tax bill, interest rates are rising signficantly.
  • This means higher mortage interest rates, higher auto loan rates, higher college tuition loan rates
  • The budding global trade war is hurting American farmers big time
  • The budding global trade war will result in higher auto prices and for many other items
  • The extra income provided by the new tax bill will quickly disappear
