Der Trumper says he wants to honor those who served in the two worthless wars jrbush and the GOP lied is into and will not let us leave.

That being the case, take the $30-40Million it would take to assemble all the tanks and artillery and aircraft lil' donny wants and use it to bring all the DISABLED Iraq/Afghanistan War vets to DC so they can ride around the White House and down Pennsylvania Ave with all the Networks braodcasting the event so America can see what happens when you elect gutless draftdodging preppytwits like jrbush and Lemontop. Throw in those with PTSD, and you'll have a TWO-Million Man March.

Oh my....how the mind of some "works".   The US does have a holiday for veterans and it is called Veterans Day.    That is not what Donald is calling for - he wants a parade of military tanks etc to go down to Washington.

What war or police action has the US actually won in recent past that would qualify for a parade that includes military equipment?    NONE.

With an attitude displayed by many here, it's no wonder we haven't won any recent wars.  And don't you think that having a parade in our nations capital is a better way to honor and celebrate them rather than having a backyard bar-b-que?

We haven't won any recent wars because we were lied into them and the liars refused to declare them "wars" because not even jrbushchenney could make Saddam appear to be a real threat to America.

We already HAVE big parades on Independence Day and Veterans Day - if lil draftdodging donny wants a bigger one, he should use some of his (ficticious) wealth and pay for it himeslf.

If you feel a need to honor the brave men and women who served and survived the two needless wars jrbush lied us into, STOP SENDING OUR BRAVE MEAN AND WOMEN OVER THERE TO DIE FOR NO GOOD REASON.

When was the last time we had a major parade for troops or veterans on Independence or Veterans Day in the nations capitol?  Or in one of the nation's major cities meant to be for all the nation's veterans or military members?

Do you think that a parade by the American Legion or VFW in Pohunk, Iowa means anything to the rest of the nation?  What big parades are you referring to?

So,  every pohunk that has a parade is meaninless. 2 Federal holidays for veterans are meaningless because only pohunk has parades.

Maybe the rest of the nation should have parades..OH WAIT!! THEY DO!!!!

11:45 AM. Nowhere is there greater excitement on America's birthday than in the nation's capital. The National Independence Day Parade in Washington,D.C. takes place annually on July 4th. The parade is a patriotic, flag-waving, red-white-and-blue celebration of America's birthday.

It would seem they DO have those parades already. speaking of not knowing what you are talking about. Why didnt you know this? whey havent your been to one?

So what is all the griping about from the liberals?  Of course I've been in the area when there has been parades in the District.  Kennedy's Inauguration, Johnson's; Kennedy's funeral procession.  But I was on duty in a basement 'vault' with the Air Force in a  building south of Alexandria, Va.  We ran a 24 hour operation.

And I've participated in military parades at the bases I was stationed.  We had parades for Armed Forces and Veterans Day.  As to why I haven't been to one lately?  Because I can't travel much anymore...

You are entitled to your opinion.  I am just stating my position, just like you.  Of course you don't think that I'm entitled to it.  But I have had many experiences along the line the discussion is about. I doubt that many here has had the opportunities to be involved in varied assignments.  I relate my experiences just as a plumber, electrician, or someone that has been engaged in an area for a length of time.

I  have actually went out of my way by pulling strings to get assignments for the experience.  I recall that you have related a good many of your experiences in life, and I do the same.

no, all the people in pohunk will be at the local one. You disparaged all the other parades Tx, yes you. in the name of WHAT YOU WANT, you have disrespected every legion and vfw, every community that has a parade. You have disparaged all the hometown ceremonies at cemetaries honoring their local veterans that gave their lives. Earlier, your crack about Arlington disparaged every soldier that gave their life and was buried in their home town. we see you very well. Its only important if you agree, everyone else can go hang, including those who gave their life. Did you give your life? no you didnt, so you have no place to say how those who did are treated.

To the contrary.  Those ceremonies are for the local communities; a national parade is for the nation.  As far as not giving my life, but I know what those veterans experienced as I was there.  I was around and had friends that did.  If you want to make this personal, where were you?

But you still don't believe in the nation honoring its veterans by a military parade?

And you think that it is ok for a community to have a parade, but not the nation as a whole?  A parade to let those in the military and it's veterans know that the nation is proud of them and their efforts?

Veterans should have a parade that allows them to - with complete impunity as each individual choses - salute trump with the single finger he so richly deserves - or not - at their sole option...

The nation would then be doubly grateful to them - first for their service - second for dissing and mocking trump.

ahh..ok..now its only vets that AGREE WITH YOU. I did mention that earlier. You should probably set those people that are HOLDING NATIONAL PARADES 3x/YEAR they are letting in veterans you dont personally approve of. Trump will do that for you im sure.

Not while Putin's "useful idiot"  - five deferment draft-dodging Cadet Bone Spurs is in the process of making the formerly respected oval office into a **bleep**hole...

Moronic meaningless chauvinistic displays of pseudo-patriotism are no longer considered acceptable by the majority of patriotic American Citizens.

Face the truth - the majority of patriotic American citizens see trump as the turd floating in the nation's punchbowl - giving it a flavor only trump-supporters, republicans and conservatives find pleasing and enjoyable - something that the majority of patriotic American Citizens would never consider sampling.

Cadet Bone Spur's military parade will have attendance as historically low as his "ignoreguration" - probably even lower...

From what I'm hearing from those at the US largest military base, most think it's foolish and a waste of time and money and have very little respect for the Commander-in-Chief.  This is all about trump and his ego and not much else.  Most in the military don't feel a need to be "honored" with a parade; just pass the darn budget.

"From what I'm hearing from those at the US largest military base, most think it's foolish and a waste of time and money"

There wasn't any source posted to back up that statement.

Of course most lower ranking military thinks parades are a waste of time.  Mostly because they don't want to participate.  And an ex-Navy Seal is just that, one individual carrying out a mission along the lines he had been trained for speaking for himself, again is just that.

The military participated in the Inaugral Parade for Kennedy; in 1991 there was a Victory parade celebrating the end of the Persian Gulf War, and on other occasions dating back to even the administration of Thomas Jefferson.

The only two wars without parades celebrating their veterans were Korea and Vietnam.

I would think Veteran Hero Senator John McCain's opinion should matter regarding " The Parade of All Parade's " Trump is ordering ?

Of course getting shot down makes him a hero?  What about those who are buried in Arlington National Cemetary?  What about those who actually are heroes because they performed an act above and beyond the call of duty.

McCain is considered a hero because he was so well known being the son of an Admiral.

IMHO Senator McCain is a hero because of his brave service and the POW torturous nightmare he survived. Diminishing that because of who his father was is not fair , when some avoided the War because of who their father was.

Of course this is going off topic from the theme of the thread but then anyone who served in the military could be considered a hero; anyone who was a Prisoner of War in Vietnam could be equally be considered a hero on the same level as McCain;  and as far as brave service then every grunt that beat the bushes in Vietnam, which in itself exposed them to dangerous conditions, could also be considered heroes on an equal footing.

Of course this is the socialistic way and takes away from those who were true heroes; those awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor; those who risked their lives for their fellow soldiers or did some act that was above and beyond the call of duty, even giving their lives for so that others might live.

The word 'hero' is too loosely thrown around today in too many instances, mostly in adoration of some famous person.  McCain is only a hero on a par with everyone who endured being a Prisoner of War, but deserving no special recognition.
