It is very difficult for me to see how many of those Trump Followers, are actually thinking that we should have an unconstitutional friendship with North Korea  and simply forget what this country has always been and still is.

They murder people in their own family, the starve their people, they incarcerate anyone that does not approve of their leader.

And it would be appropriate to actually have McDonald in NK?

But that's not American policy. Not McDonald's policy, either.

McDonald's is in Saudi Arabia where protestors are beheaded in the town square. Adultery is punishable by stoning to death. And yes, we give financial aid to the Saudis.

McDonald's in Saudi Arabia swears 'allegiance and obedience'...

Is that what he told you, or is that only your biased opinion?

Is anyone here against North Korea having a McDonald franchise?

Banana Republic?  I would say that a country like Vietnam, with its own identity and a growing economy would be classified as a Banana Republic controlled by United States corporations.

Some here probably think that South Korea is a two bit country also?

Is anyone here against North Korea having a McDonald franchise?

Why not?  Consumerism has brought down many a dictatorship.  It's reported that Kim likes McDonald's as was his father who had them flown in from China.  Consumerism has soften the regime in Vietnam.  They have been invaded by Americans again, not with guns, but as tourists for sight seeing, and Viet Veterans retiring there; and corporations look for opportunities. If not for health reasons we'd be living back there also.

Jimmy Buffett wrote a song called Banana Republics back a ways.  Anyone can hear it by going to the Amazon Music link to "listen while you read".  It was about expatriated Americans, who they were, where you find them and why they are there.

The Banana Republics are not Viet Nam to be sure.  The reasons one might go there in preference to passing one's remaining years in the United States may be different, but all have a commonality.  The people involved find 'there' more attractive than 'here', whatever their reason.  I'd suppose it would be te same for Viet Nam.

Fifth verse:  ....."Expatriated Americans feelin' so all alone

                           Telling themselves the same lies

That they told themselves back home

Down to the Banana Republics, things aren't as warm as they seem

None of the natives are buying and second-hand American dreams.

I haven't noticed much changing in the Banana Republics from their residence.

Great reference, umbarch!  Love the song....he'll be here with the Eagles in TWO WEEKS!!!!

For folks' listening pleasure.

I underlined a sentence of the above text

I'd suppose it would be the same for those who choose Viet Nam...or any other place.

I haven't noticed the Banana Republics change much.
