Re: Donald lies so do his Ambassadors...until
afisher wrote:The Republicans have been saying outrageous things to raise the outrage against members of the Islamic faith. Those statements are not playing well outside the US. Take the case of one of Donald's Ambassadors, Hoekstra, Ambassador to Norway.
He has been attempting to continue to sell the lies of Donald and the Right-Wing media in the US. He has had one disasterous press event after another,as the press in Norway is not letting his lies breathe in their country.
From the BBC:
Pete Hoekstra, the new US ambassador to the Netherlands, has admitted claiming in 2015 that Muslim youths had created so-called "no-go" zones in the country and were burning politicians.
Mr Hoekstra, a Republican congressman appointed to the envoy's job by Donald Trump, last month denied making the claims, calling them "fake news", despite being shown video evidence.
Confronted by Dutch journalists at a disastrous first press conference on Wednesday, he refused to answer questions about his comments.
On Friday Mr Hoekstra finally admitted to Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf that he had made the remarks, to a right wing gathering in the US, and said he was "shocked" by them.
"That was a wrong statement. That was just wrong," Mr Hoekstra said, adding that it was "clearly that was an inaccurate statement".
It must be tough to be given a great job, and then find out that outside the RW bubble - no one is buying their bs.
He was a far right GOP congressman in his last job. There are a lot of other GOP Congressman still there today who vote and talk just like he did. In NOV vote out everyone with an R behind their name that way you will be taking action to back your words. Keep in mind they say talk is cheap. Well prove to them that talk leads to action in how you vote.

I loved the way the Dutch press cornered Trump's ambassador about the misstatement he made. I do wish we had a president with scruples again though.

I thought this perspective was interesting. The Post article frames it as a commentary on how soft our media is. Our media let people get away with saying stupid false stuff like that. Dutch media didn't let go.
Edited: Got the country wrong!
