It is beyond comprehension how people fail to realize what is going on and how Trump is successfully using fear to manipulate people.

Currently the social security system was going to have to cut benifits in 2034 https://www.ssa.gov/oact/TRSUM/

The system is out of money.  Delaying the taxes, and let's face it these people are broke where is the money going to come from, will bring this date up to an estimated 2026.

People this means that your benifits will be cut in 2026 - 6 years from now.  So in the current American culture this is not the current president's issue - he will be out of office

But the decisions we make today impact the viability of the Social Security program.

This proves Trump's base has no clue that his policies are actually hurting them both financially and in terms of health insurance.

Trump announced on Saturday that he plans to put a temporary payroll tax holiday in place for workers who make less than $100,000 per year. The tax suspension would likely run from as soon as August through the end of the year, he said.

“If I’m victorious on November 3rd, I plan to forgive these taxes and make permanent cuts to the payroll tax,” Trump said

For the left wingers on this board that can not read....

No talk of a permanent Termination of SS taxes.

For tRump supporters on this board who "cannot read": A tax holiday is a temporary "termination". tRump supporters are so shallow they don't think of having to pay it back later. Trump vows to make cuts in the tax after being elected, making Social Security and Medicare both fail rapidly.

Please try and keep up with reality.

Even members of the All White Republican Party don't want to see Payroll taxes cut or eliminated, because that will do serious harm to both Medicare and Social Security.

Trump Cult members will never figure it out, but Trump doesn't care about them. He only cares about 3 things.

1. Himself

2. Money

3. Power

Only people with good reading, listening and viewing comprehension will understand "Voting for GOP = No More Social Security or Medicare!"

This is simply not the case, so much misunderstanding and misinformation. I happen to believe the majority of the American people know that.

You can lead a Liberal to knowledge, but you can't make'em THINK! 😞

When asked by a reporter how Social Security would be funded then, his response was he would move it to the general fund.

. . . .  The payroll tax was earmarked for providing funding for Social Security and partially for Medicare.  If funding for those programs is moved to the general fund, it could be severely reduced to pay for other projects, putting the welfare of millions of seniors in jeopardy.

Social Security is a program one is entitled to based on their work history, thus it is something earned, and not just given to them.

To listen to many here, who want to cure the financial ills of Social Security by wanting to turn the program into a needs based program - They want to remove the annual payroll cap but yet not give an increased benefit for this HEFTY increase in contributions.

Doesn't sound like they want to keep it an "earned" based program.

Course they might not realize that the annual cap has a purpose - for restraining the top benefit.

Maybe it should be just another welfare program based on need if this "earned" equation is removed - thus coming from the General Fund like other welfare type programs.

KidBoy said, " if he is re-elected he will make that permanent with the help of congress"

What's the difference? Trump still plans on PERMANENT CUTS to the payroll tax, which pays for Medicare and Social Security. That's his stated goal, and if implemented, would be a devastating blow to both programs.
