Does AARP represent the Democratic Party or Seniors?

I just read how the Democrats have scored a big success as AARP is endorsing the Health Care Bill. If this is true, then this is the final straw for me. I am going to cancel my membership from this organization that is nothing but an extension of the Democratic Party. The Health Care Bill is one more step toward the Socialist state that the Obama administration and Democrats seem determined to implement. This is another $1.2 Trillion added to the debt. Part of the payment of this debt is to come out of Medicare that will of course effect all of us. The debt and higher taxes will then fall on our children, grandchildren and great grand children to service the debt. The annual cost of living increase on SS has been canceled by the Democrats. Where is the uproar from the AARP. You see the leadership of the AARP are big contributors to the Democratic Party and to Obama. The AARP obviously does not represent the interest of Seniors and puts their political affiliation with the Democrats infront of our interest. It does not matter if you are Republican, Democrat, liberal or conservative as we are all going to suffer equally while the AARP does nothing to represent us.

As a fellow military retiree, your assessment is correct. Dump AARP. I found I can get the better  products and service from organizations like MOAA.

Plus, those military organizations support & fight for things I believe in whereas AARP is just a shill for the Democrats & select insurance companies.

In my state, the AARP ringleader is a former Clinton operative.

Under her watch, they openly campaigned for Dems and their agenda.

Trump has approved Russia putting a bounty on the heads of our military serving in AFG of up to $100,000 and we know there have been payout under the program.

As a military retiree when you back Trump you back everything he has done.

Why would he pay the Russians to kill our military and where is the proof this is even happening?

AARP gives everyone an opportunity  to voice their opinions on this site....never asked me what my party affiliation was.  .

I don't care how many times Obama and Trump played golf.

I  really  DO care how Obama handled EBOLA....and how badly Trump handled Coronavirus

"And we have to keep leading the global response, because the best way to stop this disease, the best way to keep Americans safe, is to stop it at its source — in West Africa." – President Obama. (That's history now....thank you pandemic experts---and Joe Biden and the Obama team.)

WASHINGTON—In May 2018, President Donald Trump’s biodefense preparedness adviser warned that a flu pandemic was the country’s No. 1 health security threat, and the U.S. was not prepared. The White House dismantled the National Security Council’s global health security office and when asked about it Trump said " .“I just think it's a nasty question,” the president responded. “And when you say ‘me,' I didn't do it. ... I don't know anything about it.”

  ( TRUMP gives his standard reply when he faces hard questions  ...I see nothing...I do nothing....I know nothing. }

On December 19, 2006, the Pandemic and All-Hazards Preparedness Act (PAHPA), Public Law No. 109-417, was signed into law by President George W. Bush.

..... PAHPA had broad implications for the United States Department of Health and Human Services's (HHS) preparedness and response activities. Among other things, the act amended the Public Health Service Act to establish within the department a new Assistant Secretary for Preparedness and Response (ASPR); provided new authorities for a number of programs, including the advanced development and acquisitions of medical countermeasures; and called for the establishment of a quadrennial National Health Security Strategy.

The purpose of the Pandemic and All-Hazards Preparedness Act is "to improve the Nation's public health and medical preparedness and response capabilities for emergencies, whether deliberate, accidental, or natural."[1]

The law was most recently reauthorized by Congress in 2013.

Perhaps Tammy you disagree with legislation enacted to benefit the health and safety of US citizens, including the US's efforts to do the same abroad.  Science tells us why we need these efforts.  You may want to study up a bit, or A LOT on donald's follow through with these legislated protections aimed to keep us alive and well.

Instead of demeaning Dr. Fauci, one might as well just toss the entirety of the world's medical science overboard.  That's not intelligent and it's certainly not "Funny".  You asked for an explanation of agreed upon predictable events.  Is the light dawning?

First I heard of that. Explain in detail what he predicted. The 19 virus was not around in 2015.

The dems have been stealing from SS for years.  Look at what Pelosi took out for impeach our President.  How many times has Trump said the the SS should be fully funded.

I am not sending in anything to AARP if they are represent either Party. AARP should not represent either party.  There are some of us that are Independents and I don't think AARP should represent either  any one party.

I also think AARP should not endorse any party. They cannot report issues unbiased if they are associated with any party. I will no longer be a member if AARP endorses any political party or leans in favor of any party.

They definitely lean to the Democratic Party.  They have not mentioned once President Trump signing the bill to get our prescriptions lowered.  I have already seen my prescriptions go down since this came into effect.  I am cancelling my membership and joining AMAC

Trump did not sign a bill.  He signed 4 executive orders on July 24th and EO's are not legislation.

He said Congress didn't act so he did.

Eleven months ago the Housed passed the Elijah E. Cummings Lower Drug Costs Now Act

The Senate republicans refused to even take it up.  I believe trump waited all these months with instructions to his party to - let him do it.

Trump's EO's mimics Cumming's bill.  If republicans had done their job for the American people we would have LAW on the books  That's not possible with an EO.

The pharmaceuticals would have been required, in many instances, to follow the Statute if the R's would have helped create law.

I don't know how trump's EO's are progressing.  If one has lower costs it would be interesting to inquire of the pharmacy what the source of the change was.

Did trump credit Representative Cummings?  No he didn't.

BF if your drug prices went down it wasn't because of anything Trump did it must have just turned generic that's the only reason they ever lower drug prices let things you find in worth the paper with printed on executive orders don't mean much unless they're followed up Republicans have done what needed to be done we could now be buying her drugs from Canada Trump has done nothing to help us I voted for him the common man he talks about is a guy that can wash his car washes dishes make his bed cut his grass and kiss his ass

Trump bashed Obama for executive orders, but his own record is basically the same

So Reet, are you saying trump is a hypocrite?  Why couldn't he get his own party in the Senate on-board?  How's that healthplan coming he was to release SIX weeks ago?

Well if AARP has morphed in to a medical insurance co because they offer a program to members then one could say people who use tag lines have morphed into them.

AARP  works for all Senior benefits by dealing with the appropriate Gov. agencies at all levels. That means right now it works with Dems. 95% of the times due to the fact Trump and his supporters want to end most Senior programs.

What you suggest used to be the way AARP could work since there were always a few Reb. who were for helping Seniors.

The current day way is you have to get Trump out of office if you want to keep any Senior Programs and that means any organization helping looking to help seniors will be working with Dem. close to 100% of the time.

You need to get up to speed with what is going on.
