WRONG.  Straight out of the peLOSER pinhead playbook.  Nobody "controls" the senate unless they have a 60 seat majority.

Democrats Have Abandoned Working people

Republicans controlled the White House, Senate, and the House for 2 years.

  • They produced the largest federal spending bill in history.
  • The deficit rose around $1 Trillion since Trump became President
  • Interest rates are rising significantly because of the rising deficit
  • Soybean farmers are suffering
  • Trade Wars are hurting a number of manufacturers
  • Free Trade is no longer a staple of the Republican Pary
  • Reducing the deficit is no longer a staple of the Republican Party
  • Family Friendly is no longer a mantra of the Republican party
  • No infrastucure bill
  • No health care
  • etc.

Stay focused... and contribute. Do you have a chart? Haters respond negatively to positive data. This is why the monthly jobs announcements and the quarterly GDP reports, like the one released Oct. 26, are the unhappiest days of the year for the Trump haters. News of 3.5% to 4% growth and 7 million surplus jobs are the bane of the resistance movement's existence.

Well, the Republicans nor trump have "abandoned" working people, both of them haven't been 'with'  them in order to "abandon" them for at least 50 years. Trump filed bankruptcies to keep from paying thousands of contractors and workers, and the Republicans have fought against workers organizing since the late 1960's.

Let's take a closer look at gruffstuff's posting on manufacturing:

Manufacturing sector labor productivity fell 4.4 percent in the third quarter of 2017, as output decreased 1.1 percent and hours worked increased 3.5 percent,” the Bureau of Labor Statistics said in a Dec. 6 press release. “This was the largest quarterly decline in manufacturing sector productivity since the fourth quarter of 2008 (-5.4 percent).”

How did labor productivity DECREASE by 4.4%? Also total output declined 1.1%, and since consumer demand was constant or growing, how did THAT happen? And both those events occured when workers were spending 3.5% MORE time on the job?

Seems the most obvious answer for all those events would have to be an increase in "down time" because of equipment failure. And why do machines fail?

LACK OF PROPER MAINTENENCE.

And why would management cut way back on maintenance?

BECAUSE IT BOOSTS SHORT TERM PROFITS AND THAT BOOSTS MANAGEMENT BONUSES.

Only way to stop this behavior is to end the ability of the "profit dividers" to keep the totally disproportionate share of profits for themselves at the expense of the companies survival and the workers lives.

Only way to do that is to repeal the Reagan Taxscam.

Wrong , wrong wrong... and wrong. here's why.

In the United States, productivity growth has declined sharply since 2004, yet digital technology has been widely apparent during this period. Even more startling, in 2016, measures of productivity growth flirted with negative territory.

Since president Trump.... The revival of productivity growth, particularly in manufacturing, defies predictions of economists who said that rising tariffs would hurt U.S. productivity by shifting resources into less productive U.S. businesses protected by trade barriers.

On a year-over-year basis, productivity advanced 1.3 percent, reflecting a 3.6 percent increase in output and a 2.3 percent increase in hours worked. That too indicates economic acceleration.

Washington Post says they can't find your first reference, and the second talks about ECONOMIG GROWTH, not MANUFACTURING PRODUCTIVITY.

Do try to stick to the topic instead of cherry picking irrelivant statistics from unrelated sources.

Since the 1980's, the notion of lifetime employment with a single company has become a fantasy for the bosses. The average EXECUTIVE only spends 4-5 years with any single employer, so the incentive is to "take the money and run".

Workers lack that "flexability". First off, they aren't being paid enough to save a "cushon" to see their family through a job transition. Second, companies seldom allow "portability" for pensions and health insurance and personal retirement savings will be consumed to pay for the "transition" - moving expense and living expenses during the move. So they don't move because they can't.

So the Reagan Taxscam has created a situation where those making the decisions are rewarded for deciding to trash the company. Then the Vulture Capitalists who swoop in to buy the ruined business demand "claw-backs" from the workers who give up wages and benefits for a few more years when the vultures sell off the company in pieces and take any retirement funds for their final bonus.

Only way to stop this behavior is to end the ability of the "profit dividers" to keep the totally disproportionate share of profits for themselves at the expense of the companies survival and the workers lives.

Only way to do that is to repeal the Reagan Taxscam.
