The Hill quoted an unnamed Democrat who reached out to the New York delegation to urge them to find a politician from the Bronx or Queens to challenge Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.

“What I have recommended to the New York delegation is that you find her a primary opponent and make her a one-term congressperson,” the lawmaker told the political news website. “You’ve got numerous council people and state legislators who’ve been waiting 20 years for that seat.”

When a Twitter-user suggested Wednesday that “this bartender” should have started out running for city council, Ocasio-Cortez fired back:

"'This bartender’ has served in a Senate casework office, organized & educated 1000s of young people, earned relevant degrees w/ honors, worked on field campaigns, and the only reason I wasn’t told to run for city council was because I was consistently told not to run at all."

AOC also slammed former Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz after he dismissed her proposal for a tax on the nation’s wealthiest.

Interesting. Seems AOC may have created a candidate who will pull more votes from lil donny than from whoever runs as a Dem.

His management of Starbucks may have turned a small time operation into a world-wide juggernaut BUT his baresta's make around $9/hr, work 3-day weeks and receive $1,300/year in tips making their annual income (9x8x3x52 +1300=)

$12,532 while allowing him to accumulate wealth of $3.4BILLION which works out to $97Million each year for 35 years. Information on Starbuck workers wages comes from Fortune and Schultz's wealth is from his bio in Encyclopedia Britannica.

THAT is a business model that should warm the cockles of a GOPerLord's heart spleen but only appeal to workers who like lil donny.

Contrast Schultz treatment of employees with how Ross Perot dealt with his workers at EDS, this a quote from a Dallas News article by Gary Jacobson:

But his impact remained. Former workers, without exception, say Perot cared about EDS people and their families. “If you took care of Perot, he took care of you,” said former employee Robbie Robinson.

It was Perot who sent the flowers, knew the names of employees’ children, and would fly someone around the world to get the best medical specialist. No questions asked.

Alternate view, he came up from poverty and started a company that provides jobs for 238,000 people.

He underpaid many times 238,000 people over 3 decades so he could amass $3.4Billion while his workers, managers and their families remained below the poverty line. Seems you don't need a gun to commit mass robbery.

Yes, she is fresh blood and an honest neoMarxist. She is bringing the ideology of the Progressive Movement out of the closet and that is what has the Dems upset. They identify with the ideology but haven't the guts to honestly admit it and try to sell it to the voters.
As to "PARTY OF THE PEOPLE" - if that is what the people want then so be it.

Is it time to bring back the thread exposing your neo marxist theories as bull again?

go for it. as a going in position I'd suggest you check out Marx's 10 Planks and decide which you don't like.

No suggestion, just a true statement.  You never once gave examples of policies within the Democrat or Progressive platforms that were Marxist. Your idea about neoMarxism was completely debunked in the thread about it. Your scare word scares nobody and makes many LOL.

It's really quite simple, check out the 10 Planks and see which you agree with and which you disagree with. Then a discussion can be had on equal footing.

What "scare word"???

There is no such thing as a "neoMarxist". Some trump supporters live in neoFiction land.

America was great because she did big things for all her people. AOC wants to do big things again.

Universal Health care.

End the Reagan Taxscam and make the rich contribute a fair share like they did from 1936 until 1981.

The GOPers rant that Universal Health Care will cost $32Trillion in 10 years.

NEWS FLASH: We keep what we've got, we'll spend $57Trillion in 10 years and STILL have 40 million Americans with no health care insurance.

So what can we do with $3.2TRILLION each year (which is how much is being spent NOW)

First step - Everyone without insurance select an insurance company offering Obamacare Silver Plan, sign up, and get the ID card to present to the care provider.

Government requires all providers to abide by a standard set of rules for what they'll charge for services. We already do this for Medicare and the vast majority of providers have already negotiated payment schedules from the insurance company. All we need do is eliminate the "charge masters" that are established to maximize providers profits and have NOTHING to do with the actual cost of the care provided and establish the lowest price for each service/procedure as the new ONLY price for each service. Then we replace all the insurance claims forms with a single form using the new pricing and definitions for care

Then Government regulates the price of pharmicuticals and medical equimpent based on the actual cost to manufacture and a small profit. No more hedge fund managers buying the Pharma and deciding to up the price by 5000%. First time one does that, they lose patent protection for all their drugs and Government sells the patents to the highest bidder among other pharmas.

Finally the Government collects all the dividends now paid for insurance ($3.2 Trillion), adjusts the amounts going to the insurance companies to reflect the new pricing of care and drugs and their reduced overhead, and uses the rest to cover the subsidities needed so everyone can afford the "Obamacare Silver Plan". Shortages, if any, will be made up with a 5% surtax on all income above $250,000 (about $70B will be collected from this). Total revenue to the insurance companies is unchanged, their expenses are drastically reduced  because their overhead is cut by 30 to 50% and outlays for services are the lowest currently charged Nationwide.

People who currently have insurance show up and receive care exactly as they do now. People WITHOUT insurance show up with proof of ciitizenship and receive care IAW Obamacare Silver Plan. Non-citizens receive the "Silver Plan" care, but will be billed a $50 co-pay for each visit.

Meanwhile, repeal of the Reagan taxscam will more than double revenue from income tax, totally erase the deficit and leave a considerable amount to cover any shortages in health care reform.

As the system "works out the kinks" savings will go to reduce co-pays and deductables. We KNOW this will work simply because the next most expensive health care system on the planet delivers significantly better results then we get and costs HALF what we pay. The difference is THEY have a Government that serves their citizens, not their Oligarchs, and when we get rid of the elected Republicans, we'll have the same thing here.

Last night I saw Ocasio-Cortez on the Late Show with Stephen Colbert.

When he introduced her to come come out on stage, the place erupted in a huge applause. The show is in NYC. AOC represents the Bronx. All I can say is she is very, very popular in NYC.

If anyone wants to run against her, they'll be doing it at their own peril.

I searched for the video, but couldn't find it. I couldn't even find a story on this. Maybe in a day or two.

The interview went really well.

At this  point in time I am not going to loose my time with this young Rep.   she obviously needs to learn  a lot and hoping that she will.

I don't think with what I have heard from her that she will get nowhere.  I truly believe that this country is up their upper parts of their heads with LIberals and Conservatives.

We need individuals that are mature enough to understand the realities of the Government and to try to make the changes that she  has states will need more than one generation to absorb.

In the meanwhile, wait and simply don't pay attention to what she says, just ask her to vote whe she is asked to.

Tell us which planks you like and dislike, and why. We are all eagerly await your thoughts.

Well, "us", MLseker seems to want a discussion on Marxist ideology in the modern Democratic Party. Are you also interested?

scout goes the same route of denying an affinity for the thinking of Marx but doesn't seem to want to consider the basics of Marxism.

And you ........ well, it seems you are just looking for a fight.

You did not give us the information I asked you for. Now lets have your views on that subject. No changing the subject before we have your views.

By the numbers:

1. I disagree

2. I disagree with the word "heavy".

3. I disagree.

4. I disagree.

5. I disagree.

6. I disagree

7. I disagree.

8. The first part with an "ability" qualification makes sense.

9. I disagree.

10. The first part; I agree as a piece of the total package.

scout and MLseker - any thoughts on that??
