Re: Definitions Matter...Socialism-Communism-Whatever

Sadly, some of the ignoblers are so afraid of reality, that they resort to distraction and mindless questions to make conversation impossible.    That is by design.

They have another amusing tactic, which they bury by responding to multiple posts within a thread individually.   They then insert a statement and a few entries later they then seek to distract by challenging their own statement.    It is quite a hilarious tactic to observe.

They have now upped the game, by posting a thread and then challenging their own thread.

This is also being played out on the international stage.    Israel attacks and drops bombs, outrage follows.    Then Israel attacks the writers of outrage - ignoring the topic and even more strange is that they challenge authoritarians just like themselves.

Definitions Matter...Socialism-Communism-Whatever

I appreciated the 'attempt' at rationality on this topic by putting definitions first. Too bad it failed.  People still insist on putting the cart before the horse.  They still persist in arguing merit issues before they settle any differences between them of what it IS they argue about.

Rk makes a valid point about Marx.  Trouble is, the defined concept never materialized so the actual end consequences can never be evaluated. Yet he sees fit to equate the real with the imaginary. The equivalency does not exist.  Any claim that it does is false until proven true, not the other way around as rk would conveniently have it be.

The Communism Marx envisioned doesn't exist in this world.  It is not likely to. It can still be defined in it's pure form.  Merits and demerits can be discussed conceptually. Those merits and demerits discussed are just so much supposition until proven to be true by rigorous standards...duplication in the real world.  Not just one time, but every time.  The merits and demerits of **bleep** offshoots can apply individually, but not collectively.  Why?  Because those **bleep** offshoots are different from pure communism and each other. IF they exist at all, define them anew.  Do a good job of it or quit and go home.

Same goes for Socialsim.  No matter where you look, you won't find a 'pure' example of it. You can suppose the merits and demerits of the defined 'thing' forever.  But that critter doesn't exist so you can never know with certainty whether it has horns, a pitchfork and a forked tail or white robes,  gold wings and a halo.  Not possible.  Not with certainty.

So what I see is projection of concept into reality without establishing and agreeing to the full meaning of the concept before hand.  What foolishness.  Then you proceed to equate the merits and demerits of the concept in 'good' and 'bad' real world examples as though the two were equivalent.  How absurd. Then you're willing to 'fight' over it....how tragic.

Stick with the definitions you agreed to at the start.  Oh, you didn't agree to what that was?  I see....then you don't get to join the discussion with those who did.  Why not?  Well, for one reason, whatever you then say about the topic is irrelevant. Meaningless.  No longer a discussion, but proselytizing.  A search for converts instead of a search for truth. Disingenuous.  Dishonest.  Sophistry.  Hypothetical question.  What is your intent?

Answer to yourself, please...you already told me and I don't need to be told anything twice.

Not at all about truth, but very much about what you think it is or want it to be.
