How many " I told you so's " are necessary ? The Republican's did it to us before the last Great Recession and did the same crap again this year. Is it that they just don't learn or just don't care what Cutting Taxes and Increasing Military spending does to our economy ?

The Grand Old Plutocrats just don't know when to leave well enough alone.

Greed on Steroids will hurt 99% of us AGAIN !

DOW FALLS 1500 PTS - TRUMP BUMP

Trump's minions have repeatedly bragged about the stock market performance under Trump. But where are they now? The two largest point drops in the history of the stock market occurred in the past week. Global markets are getting pounded as I write this post. It could change any minute, but it looks as if we're going to take another major hit today (Friday).

People are starting to figure out that GOP voodoo economics is back. Creating larger and larger national deficits is not a sound economic policy.

The GOP tax plan and yesterday's budget were prime examples of a Republican Congress out of control, as the deficit and interest rates roar higher.

I am very sorry to see this drop. My portfolio is REALLY sorry to see this drop but the words "I told you so" are just falling from my lips.  I do not revel in the drop of the Dow.  I revel that real life once again shows that, like communism, incompetence and ignorance of policy and economics can only survive so long.

Now, lets call on our lawmakers to start governing in a rational manner.

When I worked at the post office, i had a partner that had worked there when they offered both systems for a short period. he was single at the time, anI was od took the pension and was able to invest in the private plan too. His route was a 9 hour a day route, and he was making some pretty decent cash. He was going to retire at 60, and his planned retirement was going to be 50k/year. not bad.

When they changed to federal retirement program I had the same option and decided to stay with the old system (pension). Like your friend I had the option to participate in the TSP (but without the matching funds). It worked very well for me and if that is the sort of thing being offered the military it should work for them also.

Ed, this has happened before in a govt scheme to inflate stocks. it was a great boom, but lead to a vary stagnant period of over 10 years. No, not the depression, but murderous interest rates over a 5 year stretch that put a halt on purchasing ANY loans..housing died and the auto industry NEVER recovered to its former glory. On top of that the govt policies at the time allowed cheaper foreign goods in by normalizing trade with previous enemies with a poverty stricken work force...another thing we never recovered from. Other countries during this world wide downturn invested govt funds into their tech and manufacturing during the slump, while the socialism card was played here and business did what it does, and didnt spend on upkeep, repairs, new tech and processes. The result cost us dearly. when the economy came back and needed new tech and equipment NOW, foreign manufacturers hit the ground running while domestic companies just failed to compete, and we lost entire manufacturing industries to foreign competition..they beat us at our own game because of lack of govt stimulus.

The explanation of this period and its run up ( again NOT the depression) is lengthy, and is contain in about 1500 fine print pages that are extremely text book and boring.

I see it happening again, only its happening to an economy that isnt as worker friendly as the previous prosperity period was...and the end result will be futher long decline of the working class. This PREVIOUS overheated economy was the time MAGA refers to. Govt fiddling to overheat the economy helped lead to the end of the post WWII boom.

I learned this source from a poster emeritus here that is frequently insulted for pointing this out. This history was written by a libertaian participant in shifting the economy, who quit over Voodoo economics.  I was also a key witness to all of this.

So it begins.
