DOJ will investigate alleged FISA abuses

Donald Trump is a man of stellar integrity who worships the truth, honesty, and integrity. He's such an honest man that he's concerned about alleged corruption he heard about at the FBI, our elite law enforcement agency. Trump then sends out his Republican Congressman chumps (supported by millions of Trump voters) to drum up allegations against FBI agents in their attempt to smear the agency.

Oh by the way, I'm sure it's just a sheer coincidence, but the alleged corrupt agents just happen to be the same people who are investigating Donald Trump. Wow!

One must understand that guilty people have no defense, so they almost always attack the prosecution. As with OJ, he didn't murder Nicole, he was framed by LAPD.

And today, CNN is telling us that Mueller is now looking at trump’s relationship with the Russians just before he declared his candidacy for president.

This is totally within Mueller’s right as his mandate is to track down everything related to Russian meddling.

No surprise, then, that once again, we find. this investigation on the buffoon and Chief’s doorstep.

Thank God for the seemingly only competent and moral Republican in Washington DC! Thank you Robert Mueller.

Gee, I miss having a real president!

Attorney General Jeff Sessions said Tuesday that the Justice Department will investigate potential abuses of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA).

"Yes, it will be investigated," Sessions told reporters at the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court, which oversees FISA warrants, according to the Washington Examiner.

He said looking into any abuses is the "appropriate thing" to do.

Sessions's remarks follow allegations from President Trump last year that Obama administration officials misused their FISA authority to wrongly surveil members of his transition team.

It is not clear if Sessions has opened a formal investigation into the matter, but he said the Justice Department's inspector general would take it up.

Sessions similarly said on Fox News on Sunday that his department would look into the process for obtaining warrants under FISA.

White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said at a press briefing on Tuesday it is the Justice Department's responsibility to investigate claims of FISA abuses and that the White House would support the probe.

"I think that’s the role of the Department of Justice, and we’re glad that they’re fulfilling that job," she said.

Trump has publicly pressed Sessions to open up an investigation into potential abuses of the program, which allows U.S. law enforcement and intelligence agencies to obtain secret surveillance orders on individuals in the U.S. suspected of being foreign terrorists or spies.

The president claimed last year that the Obama administration improperly wiretapped members of his presidential campaign and transition team, though the White House has not provided any evidence to support that claim.

Allegations of FISA abuses surfaced again last month, when Republicans on the House Intelligence Committee released a controversial memo alleging that FBI and Justice Department officials misused their authority to obtain a surveillance order on Carter Page, a former Trump campaign adviser.

The committee released a Democrat-authored memo on Saturday countering the claims in the GOP document.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

It's about time... Tic Toc.

President Donald Trump again attacked beleaguered Attorney General Jeff Sessions on Wednesday, this time for not ordering the Justice Department to investigate the agency’s use of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act in its Russia probe.

Sessions instead has asked the department’s inspector general to investigate the matter, Trump said. The Office of the Inspector General said it’s aware of a referral from the Justice Department and declined further comment.

Sounds as though guilt ridden Trump is attacking his own knowing Mueler is one step behind him.

So let me get this straight ................ the Right, or at least this poster, is glad that an organization that trump and the Right in general has accused of being corrupt is now going to investigate alleged FISA abuses.

Geez .................... ya' just can't make this stuff up !!!!!! LOL !!!!!!

Good effort (it really is funny), but that's way too much nuance for them. They're hopelessly tangled in their own conspiracy theories and incapable of understanding the absurdity of what they say.

Well, actually you can make it up (as you just did) and then get all giggly over the "make up".

The President has never called Session corrupt nor has he called the FBI corrupt. It has been pointed out that certain, small elements of the FBI has been used for partisan purposes by the previous Administration. Now we have to have confidence in the new AG to wisely select the personnel involved.

So we have to have confidence because a proven habitual liar like trump has put a new AG in place (who has also been caught in lies)?  ROFLMAO !!!!  And yes trump did accuse the FBI of being corrupt.

Some people believe every radical right wing conspiracy theory.

And some will accept anything including the corruption of federal agencies if it can be used to thwart the efforts of President Trump.

And one Right Wing poster here wants a supposedly corrupt federal agency to investigate supposed FISA abuses.

Wow. Jeff Sessions himself? The man who has put himselve completely above politics especially when dealing with the president?

(God this is so funny)

Would this not be an appropriate job for the AG? Certainly more appropriate than the "tarmac summit".
