Dear Fellow Member: You misspelled trump, derangement, syndrome, and collective. You misspelled close to 10% of the total (44) words used. Is this indicative of the intelligence that some trump supporters possess ???????

House oversight investigating WH handling of Rob Porter

The House Oversight Committee is investigating the White House's handling of Rob Porter's employment, chairman Trey Gowdy told CNN Wednesday.

"We are directing inquiries to people that we think have access to information we don't have. You can call it official. You can call it unofficial. Those words don't mean anything to me. What means something to me is I'm going to direct questions to the FBI that I expect them to answer," Gowdy, R-South Carolina, told CNN "New Day" co-anchor Alisyn Camerota.

He added that he was "troubled by almost every aspect" of Porter's employment at the White House.

"How do you have any job if you have credible allegations of domestic abuse? Again, I am biased toward the victim," Gowdy said.

Porter resigned last week from his role as staff secretary amid domestic abuse allegations, which he denies.

FBI Director Christopher Wray testified Tuesday on Capitol Hill that the FBI briefed the White House multiple times on its investigation into Porter last year, contradicting the White House's accounting of when it learned of the allegations against the former staff secretary and the status of the FBI's background check investigation to determine whether Porter could be granted a permanent security clearance.

CNN reported that some senior aides -- including chief of staff John Kelly and White House counsel Don McGahn -- were aware of both the allegations against Porter before they became public and of his troubles obtaining a security clearance. Two of Porter's ex-wives had detailed the allegations to the FBI during a routine background check into Porter.

The question is, can the GOP led committee actual investigate something with bi-partisan intent, with bi-partisan results and without late night clandestine meetings at night with the White House.  It's yet to be seen.

Jim, has your position changed since you posted the nonsense above?  You gotta wean yourself from the foolishness of the wing-nut sites to actual know what's going on in the world.  Over the last 17 hours even Fox has spoken out against the foolishness of the "DaileyCaller" info you posted above.

White House press secretary Sarah Sanders told reporters at Tuesday’s briefing that FBI director Christopher Wray’s testimony on former Trump aide Rob Porter is not at odds with statements previously made by the White House.  LOL....and we should believe her after her false stories yesterday?  Really?

Wray told the Senate Intelligence Committee Tuesday the FBI had opened a background check into Porter in July 2017 and concluded the process in January 2018, which appeared to conflict with the White House’s claim the background check was “interim and ongoing.” Nope, this is a lie.  Wray said they concluded the process in July 2017 as demonstrated in the link below:

FBI's Wray contradicts White House on Porter background check

We received a request for additional information and completed that in November 2017.  Wray also warned the White House as indicated in the link below:

"WRAY: What I can tell you is that the FBI submitted a partial report on the investigation in question in March and then a completed background investigation in late July; that soon thereafter we received a request for follow-up inquiry, and we did the follow-up and provided that information in November; and that we administratively closed the file in January. And then earlier this month we received some additional information, and we passed that on as well."

Even Fox is saying....

John Kelly faces mounting pressure after Wray's testimony

Feb. 13, 2018 - 4:46 - FBI Director Christopher Wray's testimony on the timeline of Rob Porter's background check contradicts the White House's account; reaction and analysis from Bret Baier, anchor of 'Special Report.'

“Is there anything you would like to clarify?” Fox News Radio’s Jon Decker asked Sanders after bringing up Wray’s comments.

“My understanding is any information would have gone to the personnel security office,” Sanders responded. “That office had not completed their process in order to make a recommendation for adjudication to the White House. That was still ongoing and, therefore, recommendation had not been made.  Recommendation was provided in July 31, 2017 and again, in November 2017.  That’s part of the White House that the security office plays, run by career officials, and we hadn’t received a recommendation by that office.”

Decker pressed onward: “The FBI director said under oath today that the completed background investigation was actually submitted in late July. Which is it?”

“The White House personnel security office, staffed by career officials, received what had they considered to be the final background investigation report in November but had not made final recommendation for adjudication to the White House because the process was still ongoing when Porter resigned,” Sanders flatly answered. “The July report required significant additional investigatory field work before personnel security office could begin to evaluate the information for adjudication.”

“We find those statements to be consistent with one another.”

Frankly, I'm not surprised Jim searched for a clue on a right-wing website.....

Fact is, the WH lied and are doing there best to get on the same page.  But when your SOP is to lie, it's hard to get everyone on the same page.  Yesterday, the WH blamed the FBI for not completing it's work.

From the Wall Stret Journal, a far more credible source than the right-wing cover-up source, "The Daily Caller"

FBI Director’s Timeline of Porter Probe Contradicts White House

WASHINGTON—The FBI first flagged parts of its background check of a former White House aide accused of domestic abuse in March, the head of the agency said Tuesday, providing a timeline that conflicted with the West Wing’s chronology and added to the tension between the president and the intelligence community.

Christopher Wray, director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, told the Senate Intelligence Committee that the bureau gave multiple updates to the White House on its findings about Rob Porter, who served as staff secretary in the White House before he resigned last week.

Mr. Wray said the agency provided its completed background check in July, answeredfollow-up questions from the White House in November and closed its file on Mr. Porter in January. It offered “some additional information” this month, he said.

“I’m quite confident that in this particular instance, the FBI followed existing protocols,” said Mr. Wray, who didn’t specify what additional information was recently given to the White House.

Mr. Porter served in the White House for more than a year with a temporary security clearance, despite accusations from two former wives that he had been physically abusive. Mr. Porter has denied the accusations, and the White House has explained the decision to keep him by saying that his background check was ongoing.

After Mr. Wray’s comments on Tuesday, the White House shifted its blame for Mr. Porter’s continued employment from the FBI to an internal White House office tasked with making recommendations on security clearances.

“The FBI portion was closed,” White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said.

“The White House personnel security office, who is the one that makes a recommendation for adjudication, had not finished their process and therefore not made a recommendation to the White House.”

Questions about the handling of Mr. Porter’s dismissal have consumed the White House for a week. White House aides have complained privately about internal jockeying and a sense of chaos that several have compared with President Donald Trump’s first days in office.

The changing timeline from the White House also put Mr. Trump’s team at odds, once again, with the FBI. Last month, in an unusual public display of tension, the FBI urged the GOP president not to release a classified memo about allegations of improper surveillance as part of the investigation into whether Russia interfered in the 2016 presidential election. Mr. Trump has publicly criticized the agency, saying its “reputation is in tatters,” and he fired former FBI Director James Comey last spring.

Asked on Monday if the White House should have handled Mr. Porter’s situation any differently, chief of staff John Kelly said, “No.”

“It was all done right,” Mr. Kelly said in a brief interview.

Still, Ms. Sanders expressed on Tuesday some uncertainty about how the White House handled Mr. Porter’s situation.

Ms. Sanders said she “can’t say with 100% certainty” whether any member of the White House personnel security office, which received the FBI’s reports on Mr. Porter, relayed concerns about the former aide to anyone in the West Wing.

White House counsel Don McGahn —whom Mr. Porter had warned in early 2017 about his ex-wives’ allegations—didn’t review any of the material on Mr. Porter provided by the FBI, a White House official said. But the official couldn’t say whether Mr. McGahn or another member of the counsel’s office had reviewed the personnel security office’s file on Mr. Porter.

Mr. Porter was among dozens of top officials—including senior White House adviser Jared Kushner, the president’s son-in-law—who held an interim security clearance more than a year into their tenure in the administration. Former FBI officials have said it is unusual for a senior aide to have that interim status for more than a year.

Director of National Intelligence Dan Coats said in testimony Tuesday before the Senate Intelligence Committee that officials with an interim clearance should have limited access to sensitive information. He called the security clearance process “broken.”

Within the White House, top officials had raised flags about Mr. Porter’s clearance situation months before last week’s news reports about the abuse allegations against him.

Last fall, Mr. McGahn told Mr. Kelly there was “an issue” involving Mr. Porter’s clearance, according to an administration official, who said Mr. McGahn didn’t provide many details.

Mr. Kelly defended Mr. Porter as late as last week, issuing a statement on Feb. 6 that Mr. Porter was a “man of true integrity and honor.” He reversed himself 24 hours later, issuing a statement that said he was “shocked” by the allegations.

Much more from this credible source at:  FBI Director’s Timeline of Porter Probe Contradicts White House

Maybe he can find another dishonest article at Breitbart...

It's laughable when trump claims concern that someone may have hacked Hillary's server to obtain classified information, all the while Porter, who was rejected for clearance by the FBI, was handling secret information on a daily basis AND, WAS IN LINE FOR A PROMOTION APPROVED BY Kelly....who was aware of his clearance rejection as late as November, and likely long before then.

What a bunch of liars and threats to our democracy.

rker - I have never been able to understand as to why they are so stupid to actually lie on things that can be so easily verified

Since they introduced Alternative Facts, it's been smooth sailing.  This is how we roll loyalty oath.  S.H.Sanders is becoming more bot-like by the minute.

The continued lying to avoid and squash truths are going to result in Obstruction of Justice charges.  Incredibly stupid, still.

Dear trump supporter,

In most states, there were more than two names on the ballet.  If you didn't like either, why vote for the habitual liar, the sexual assaulter, the man who went bankrupt SIX times, cheated contractors out of millions and was a known racist.  I hope you enjoy your life knowing you helped put this low-life dirt bag in the White House.

It's clear where the insanity is, but thanks for weighing in.
