Congress Approval Drops - 18%. Trump Steady at 41%

Gallup Poll -- July 30, 2020

Congress' Approval Drops to 18%. Trump Steady at 41%

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- After hitting 20-year highs in April and May, Americans' approval of Congress continues its downward slide to 18%. The last time congressional approval was below 20% was in September 2019.

The latest reading is from a Gallup poll conducted July 1-23 as coronavirus cases in the U.S. continued to spike, and Congress worked to negotiate another economic relief package.

While partisans' approval ratings of the legislative branch have declined by double digits since May, Democrats' approval has fallen the most -- from 39% to 20%.

At the same time, Republicans' approval has dropped from 24% to 14% and independents' from 32% to 21%.

Donald Trump has destroyed the country he promised to make great again

Over more than two centuries, the United States has stirred a very wide range of feelings in the rest of the world: love and hatred, fear and hope, envy and contempt, awe and anger. But there is one emotion that has never been directed towards the US until now: pity.

However bad things are for most other rich democracies, it is hard not to feel sorry for Americans. Most of them did not vote for Donald Trump in 2016. Yet they are locked down with a malignant narcissist who, instead of protecting his people from Covid-19, has amplified its lethality. The country Trump promised to make great again has never in its history seemed so pitiful.

I don't remember what was going on between January and May 2020 when Trump's Aprroval stayed at 49%.

His low was back in January, 2019 at 37%. Six months later he was polling at 38%.

Sad to see America's education system so degraded by the Republican War on Intelligence there's 41% of the population that feel working to deny women their reproductive rights and do great harm to poor brown people makes a Toad worthy of their approval. Demonstrates a total breakdown in the teaching of reason and logic in our schools, or, worse yet, entirely too many people consumed with a vile prejudice that completely overwhelms their ability to think..
