Concentration Camps

Concentration Camps Expert Says Trump Just Endorsed The Idea Of Them In U.S.

“Historically, when this kind of thing has happened, it’s encouraged other people to take up the same tactics.

President Donald Trump’s pardon of former Arizona sheriff Joe Arpaio amounts to an endorsement of the idea of concentration camps, says a journalist who has reported on the global history of the deadly facilities.

A green light for all the Sheriff Arpaios across the nation.

The ex-sheriff embraced the term when speaking of the Tent City he created.   I would hope that they will watch the video where he embraces that verbage instead of what they are doing.   http://www.phoenixnewtimes.com/news/joe-arpaio-tent-city-a-concentration-camp-6500984

What the heck is a "Concentration Camps Expert"??

On one side we have a a Sheriff who has more prisoners than his facilities can handle and he adapts.

One the other side we have camps where people are taken for extermination.

Only one deep into irrational hatred could equate the two.

No .... "Only one deep into irrational hatred could" deny their equivalence.

He adapted by converting the Concentration Camps into Work Camps. Just like Sheriff Joe.

On the other side we have camps where people are taken for extermination. No, those were a separate class of Camp. There were 44,500 "Work Camps", where prisoners were used to provide low cost goods and services to ease the burden of supporting all the inmates with tax Reichmarks. There were only six Extermination Camps (with hundreds of sub-camps) built by the German Nazis, and none by American Nazis....so far.

While Sheriff Joe only had one, Der Trumper's ringing endorsement of such facilities can be expected to cause the number to grow exponentially in Red States as another device to reduce Government spending and allow greater tax cuts for the Uberrich. The GOPerGovs might even decide to feed the prisoners in the new Camps, a drastic improvement over the German versions that is sure to molify any humanitarian concerns their base may have.

Listening to Der Trumper's demands for War on Aliens one can only wonder how long before he moves on to those "other" camps.

Only one deep into irrational hatred could equate the two. Only one deep into denial can fail to see the parallels.

No, we do not have an SS-Obergruppenfuhrer. That is just one of your offensive terms. How many Jews, Gypsies, etc. do you think are in the prisons under discussion?

O.K. so the prisons under discussion are not for extermination and tax Reichmarks are not involved, so where do you get your "concentration camp" theory?

If there are prisoners, space must be provided. Is that not what the "ringing endorsement" was about? If the prisons are "growing exponentially" does that indicate that the number of criminals is "growing exponentially". So what would you have the GOPerGovs, "Der Trumper", and the Uberrich do about that??

Listening to Der Trumper's demands for War on Aliens one can only wonder how long before he moves on to those "other" camps.

I have heard of no "War on Aliens" from anyone, certainly not from President Trump (if that is who you mean). Can you offer some substantiation or shall that just be considered another one of "those" facts?

Only one deep into irrational hatred could equate the two. Only one deep into denial can fail to see the parallels.

Again - the hatred branches out to "Der Trumper", the Uberrich", "SS-Obergruppenfuhrer" etc. making my point about irrational hatred rather than rational thinking being the basis of this silliness about "concentration camps".

Yeah, I saw that 60 Minutes report too. But it didn't mention the Sheriff. nor did it mention Goering, Pohl, SS-Obergruppenfuhrer, Jews, Gypsies, Communists, Jehovah's Witnesses, Gays, Free Masons, the Reich, Hitler, Reichmarks, Der Trumper, nor GOPerGovs as were in the post I was responding to.
So, your response really does not fit.

You didn't see it but you know it fits is a very strange comment.

However, without the need to do the rhetoric about Nazis and concentration camps, there has been much discussion for many years about out prison system. Do you have specific complaints we can talk about - who knows, we may find some agreement.

At bottom, we have prisons for two things - to keep us safe from peoplewho would do us harm and to get the people who break the law to repent and abide by the law.

I personally think being locked up in Joe's Concentration Camp might fill the bill - one big factor in recitivism seems to be the convict's belief that life inside isn't all that bad, and might be better than what he can arrange on the outside, and I'd think Joe's Place would NOT instill such feelings, but I can find no stats on recitivism among Joe's former inmates. One would think if his methods actually reduced repeat ofending, he'd have the stats cast in bronze and placed on the front gate, and the fact none are readily available would indicate that perhaps his redcitivism rates are HIGHER than other "correctional facilities".

What is NOT okay is the way Joe runs his jail. In fact most of those locked up by Joe are awaiting trial for non-violent crimes, and their treatment seems a tad out of synch with "innocent until proven guilty" since they're being punished without a trial.

But what really leaps out of the statistics (1996-2012) for Sheriff Joe's jail is the SUICIDE RATE - 24% of his inmates KILL THEMSELVES in custody, compared to a National average of around 9%. That double the average death rate does NOT include 39inmates who died after being taken to a hospital and another 34 who were just found dead in their cells "with no discernable cause of death".

THOSE are the factors that make Joe's Jail a legitimate comparison with Nazi Concentration Camps - inmates go in without being convicted of a crime and don't  come out alive.

60 Minutes had a feature on that issue of those not yet convicted. That is not "the way Joe runs his jails" - it is a national issue.

It is a shame that you had a real issue but just had to go off on "Joe" (like it was unique there) and, of course, strayed back to the Nazi meme.

It is a shame that you had a real issue but just had to go off on "Joe"

The issue is the inhuman treatment of prisoners, many of whom are waiting trial and have never been convicted of anything, the Republican party that cheers that sort of thing on, and the Republican President that pardons Apario.

It's no coincidence the same people that cheered on the torture of prisoners at GITMO cheer on the torture of prisoners in Arizona and elect Apario and Trump  to office.

It's like some insidious creeping cruelty that has infected the Republican party that has made them susceptible to the allure of fascism and people like Apario and Trump, who are two birds of a feather.

Combine that with telegraphing to Nazis since before the election and Trumps affection for Putin's Russia, which is a moderate fascist state, how Russia helped Trump win the last election by attacking the USA, how even now Trump can't seem to bring himself to say no to Putin,  how people like you defend all that,   and it's easy to come to the conclusion of what the Republican notion of the ideal type of government is.

Once again it is a shame that you have identified a very difficult to solve national problem

When did the inhuman treatment of prisoners become a very difficult to solve national problem?

The US was instrumental in writing the Geneva Conventions in 1949.

Don't worry the Constitution will protect you?

Like the Geneva Conventions protected US prisoners around the world, but most notably in Iraq, Afghanistan, and GITMO?

like the US codes that protect prisoners from inhuman treatment protected Arpaio's prisoners in Arizona?

The problem is you, and people like you, that tolerate and actually vote for this sort of thing.  Arpaio was elected to office six times, and cost Maricopa County seventy milion dollars, and counting, in lawsuits.

I don't know what you are bad-mouthing America about now, but the issue I was talking about (from 60 Minutes) was the problem of people not yet tried but still jailed because they could not make bail. Quite a few of the Sheriff's prisoners fell into that category.

And of course..."people like you".....just can't stick to the topic, can you?

When society becomes less virtuous you will always get more government, more police, more control, more regulation.

Our nation was made for a moral people of high character. Religion plays a major role in such. It was John Adams who said... Our constitution was made for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other."

The reasons President Trump and Joe were elected, is because those elected are done so not by majority, but by the majority who participate. People who care enough to make an effort for their voices to be heard.

Expect more of the same.

Only one deep into irrational hatred could equate the two.

Sheriff Joe Arpaio described Tent City as concentration camp

And then lies about what he said....in a video!  Birds of a feather.

1) I'm sure you saw the woman first say "concentration camp" and then the guy joke about "concentrating" and finally Arpaio's off-handed response to those two comments;

2) You saw the pictures of the camp and the inmates. Did you see any gas chambers or ovens? Were those people there because of their religion?
