Now if the US had a reliable and honest leader something might get accomplished but, alas, we have Donald Trump.

One has to wonder about the origin so the article, as I have never seen a NYT article that is authored by REUTERS, or is someone attempting a bit of cherry picking.

China says US ‘solely to blame’ for collapse of trade talks, but door remains open for negotiation

  • Beijing says in white paper that despite its efforts to reach a compromise, ‘the more the US government is offered, the more it wants’
  • Negotiators still ‘committed to credible consultations based on equality and mutual benefit’, but nation will stand firm on ‘matters of principle’

Meanwhile, back in reality land, yesterday China fined FED EX  and today it is fining Ford Motor Company.

I couldn't find anything about China's desire to negotiate in there.

It appears that to some every topic is - "Attack the President of the US". And, of course, there is always something from NBC or CNN or the WAPO to quote.

You better go back and read your support article. It lays out that China will take action if Trump keeps up his trade war. One thing they will do is cut off shipments of rare earth to the US, and China has more of that than any country in the world. I posted details on this some days ago. An example is oil refineries can not operate with out it. If all of that material comes from China you better get a lot of walking shoes as driving will drop in the US. Oh wait waling shoes are made in China so you will pay a lot more. One NY Inv. house has told us if Trump keeps up his Tariff war with China the US will be in recession in one year. China has said as the support article does that Trump keeps moving the goal posts. Every time there is something agreed to Trump then changes what he wants. Other countries back China up as the same thing has happened with their dealing with the US. Even on war and peace in the world. Our Dictator in action.

Ding Shuang, chief China economist at Standard Chartered Bank, said China’s plan for a watch list of “unreliable” foreign entities deemed to have damaged the interests of Chinese firms and its threat to limit exports of rare earths minerals critical to the manufacture of semiconductors, were aimed at strengthening Beijing’s hand for negotiations.

There is a lot more than semiconductors involved as there are  a lot of different types of  rare earth. Yes DS is correct they put that out to strengthen China hand, but that does not change what effect it can have on the US if they do it, and they will do it if Dictator Trump keeps up his Tariff war. China went after FED EX yesterday and it looks like this might be the example US Co. If you have ever been to China you know there are American Cos. all over. The worlds largest McDonald's in there. Go learn the full subject.

Re: China Urges Dialogue, Negotiation to Solve Trade Row With U.S

China’s white paper on the trade war with the United States was not about playing a blame game with Washington, but preparing Beijing for a return to the negotiating table, Chinese analysts said.

In an unusual move, the State Council published the paper on Sunday to put China’s side of the dispute. Focus fell on the part where Beijing said that the US should bear responsibility for the breakdown in the months-long trade talks.

On Monday, the US repeated its claim that China had back-pedalled on the deal. The Office of the US Trade Representative and the US Treasury said Washington’s demand for detailed and enforceable commitments to trade reform and open markets “in no way constitutes a threat to Chinese sovereignty”.

“The United States is disappointed that the Chinese have chosen in the ‘white paper’ and in recent public statements to pursue a blame game misrepresenting the nature and history of trade negotiations between the two countries,” the agencies said.

Chinese analysts who talked to the South China Morning Post before the release of the US statement said Beijing was not allocating blame, it was telling the US it would not “give ground on matters of principle” but at the same time it was willing to commit to “credible suggestions”.
