@ManicProgressive that is GREAT! Thank you so much for the information!

Perhaps we can get @aarp to move this forward

AARP, please approach #ClarkCounty Nevada Sheriff Lombardo @Sheriff_LVMPD and others nationally, as I think based on their alerts, this would be helpful! And Sheriff Lombardo is very open to new ideas.

But as all things, it will take national attention,

Thanks, again, @ManicProgressive ; great info!

We have “silver alerts” in my area for just this situation. Just like Amber Alerts. And our police department has a robust Autism/Intellectual Disability/Dementia unit that is specially trained to find individuals who may become lost.

But you know, we are just a little socialist county in a socialist state. 😎

Caring for each other question

Message 3 of 3

Early today I was at a major retailer's store and the cashier, while attentive, seemed distracted. Since it was she and I only at that time, she confided she was concerned with another customer (about my age) who appeared to be confused or lost.

She interacted with him almost an hour prior to our discussion; she was sincere in her concern and continued to follow his progress (or lack there of) within the warehouse size property.

I joined her concern and checked local LEO posts and alerts to find if this was a person in need of assistance but found nothing at that time.

A while later he was found safe by his grown children who came to the retailer, and it was acknowledged he could have been lost without assistance with the exception they found him so soon.

I understand with all the self "alert" systems in place we think we're aok to be alone but I think, based on this experience, we need alerts such as "Amber Alert" in place for elderly and differently-abled citizens. Just as WalMart and other retailers have in-store alerts for missing children, elderly and/or differently-abled persons need all of us to help, lest they become prey...

Apology for such a long post, but just wondering...
