Alternatively, instead of repeating tweets by mr. obeseity - one could read an entire article and the information about the entire rail program and it's funding.    I know, I know, too hard for some who appear to believe that leadership is tweeting.   For those who want more that a few words, we read entire articles, aka the LA Times and Gavin's entire statement.

No decision or plan since 2008....in this case procrastination paid off. What a joke! This money might be better spent on helping recovery efforts from the recent wildfires and mudslides.

California Needs to Send $3.5B back to the Federal Government

It has become a political guessing game from California to Washington, D.C.: What exactly Gov. Gavin Newsom meant when he said California’s high-speed-rail project, “as currently planned, would cost too much and take too long.”

Was the new governor killing all but a 165-mile stretch of high-speed rail in the Central Valley — or was he reimagining the full bullet-train project in a more realistic way?

Newsom said that “right now, there simply isn’t a path” to go from San Francisco to Los Angeles, as the plan was pitched to voters in 2008. But, the governor said in his State of the State speech Tuesday, “we do have the capacity to complete a high-speed-rail link between Merced and Bakersfield.”

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

How is this a $3.5 Billion problem for the nation?  The money needs to be returned to the federal government.
