CNN sees ratings swoon in April

CNN's prime-time ratings dropped a whopping 26 percent in April compared to last year, according to Nielsen Media Research.

MSNBC's ratings were down 14 percent in April 2019 compared to April 2018, while Fox News's ratings overall were flat.

The sharp decrease for CNN marked its lowest-rated month in total viewers since October 2015.

In the 25- to 54-year-old demographic that advertisers covet most, it was the network's least-watched month since Aug. 2015.

In prime time, Fox News finished first with an average of 2.4 million viewers. In April 2018, the network also averaged 2.4 million viewers, according to Nielsen.

MSNBC was second with an average of 1.66 million viewers, down from 1.93 million in April 2018.

CNN was third with 767,000 average primetime viewers, down from 1.04 million in April 2018.

In the 25–54 demographic, all three networks saw a decline.

Fox News delivered 389,000 viewers, followed by MSNBC's 255,000 and CNN's 198,000 viewers in the category.

This compared to 483,000 for Fox, 398,000 for MSNBC and 336,000 for CNN in April 2018.

The top five shows in cable news were Fox's "Hannity" with an average of 3.086 million viewers, followed by "Tucker Carlson Tonight" with an average of 2.834 million. MSNBC's "Rachel Maddow Show" was third with 2.630 million viewers, followed by Fox's "The Ingraham Angle with 2.455 million viewers and "The Five" with 2.4 million in rounding out the Top-5.

CNN's highest-rated show was "Chris Cuomo Primetime," which averaged 917,000 viewers in finishing 26th overall in total viewers among the cable news networks.

Unfortunate for you and the left, Trump will not be impeached since he did nothing to be impeached for so go cry your eyes out!

Actually, Mueller did identify and provide evidence for 10 (ten) instances of obstruction of justice.

And of course we also have Trump's treasonous actions favoring Russia over his own country and his continued violation of the emoluments clause of our Constitution .... ALL impeachable offenses!

BTW .... hopefully we will get to see the unredacted Mueller Report ..... and all the stuff your Republicans want to hide ...... and also see Trump's tax returns showing that he pays little to no taxes and confirming the suspicion that the Russian oligarchs and Saudis are funding Trump's house of cards empire!

The media meltdown following Robert Mueller’s “no collusion” conclusion got even worse this week; with CNN’s primetime ratings dropping a stunning 33% from the same week last year.

According to Ad Week, the Cable News Network lost one-third of its primetime viewers compared to the same period in 2018.

“Versus the comparable week in 2018, Fox News was -4% in total prime time viewers, MSNBC was -4% in total prime time viewers, and CNN was -33%. In total day viewers, Fox was -7%, MSNBC was -5% and CNN was -21%,” reports the industry website.

In total daytime viewers, CNN fell behind Fox News, MSNBC, Nickelodeon, HGTV, and Investigation Discovery.

MSNBC is also experiencing a massive drop in ratings.

“Maddow lost nearly 500,000 viewers for her first episode following the release of Barr’s letter. Then she plummeted 13 percent in April compared to the same month in 2018, according to TVNewser, falling behind “Tucker Carlson Tonight” in the process. In May she averaged 2.6 million – her worst month since Trump took office – and a far cry from the 3.1 million viewers she averaged during the first quarter of 2019,” reports Fox News.

“MSNBC is standing by her because she still has a large viewership emotionally invested bringing down Trump,” said one Cornell professor. “That some reporters refuse to go on her show is important, but is unlikely to change her behavior. Maddow long ago carved out her faux-intellectual paranoid niche, and she’s stuck in it.”

President Trump slammed CNN during his overseas trip to the UK earlier this month; posting “Just arrived in the United Kingdom. The only problem is that “@CNN is the primary source of news available from the U.S. After watching it for a short while, I turned it off. All negative & so much Fake News, very bad for U.S. Big ratings drop. Why doesn’t owner @ATT do something?”

— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) June 3, 2019

“I believe that if people stoped using or subscribing to @ATT, they would be forced to make big changes at @CNN, which is dying in the ratings anyway. It is so unfair with such bad, Fake News! Why wouldn’t they act. When the World watches @CNN, it gets a false picture of USA. Sad!” he added.

No one is making such an implication. The report specifically stated that had the Trump campaign either not destroyed or used apps that dumped communications, the Mueller investigation would have been able to corroborate witness statements, and could have arrived at a more definitive conclusion.

Not getting caught is not the same as not guilty.

Lets assume that you and the left are correct (that Trump committed a crime but didn't get caught). Lets see - if your local bank gets robbed and the thief doesn't get caught, using your logic, you can also assume that Trump robbed the bank since he/she didn't get caught.

It doesn't work that way or Hillary would be in an adjacent cell to Bill. I assume that Obama said to Hillary: lets use some of that Clinton Foundation money to hire this guy I know called Christopher Steele to write a fairy tale about the Russians in collusion with Trump to fix the election and we can get the FBI to spy on Trump by using the Steele dossier to obtain a FISA warrant to spy. Note that these are my assumptions but without proof.

Now the Democrats have to worry that Barr doesn't pursue the above to prove I'm right and jail a few high ranking Democrats!

Using my logic?? I'm not sure where you pulled that stuff from. The differences are that witnesses testified to the special counsel about the Trump campaign's contacts with Russia, and when Mueller tried to corroborate that testimony, he found that the Trump campaign had either deleted the conversations, or used apps that dumped the data.

In so far as Trump robbing banks, let's see his tax returns!

Not true. There is a law that the Chairman of the Committees in the House and Senate who have oversight in this area can get the returns of any American who has filed a tax return. The House Chairman has made such a request, and the IRS has not followed the law by providing the tax return. Once again the Trump admin has broken the law so lets see what happens, and does the Sec. of Treasury go to jail.

You can repeat it all you want but it does not change what I told you. The law requires the IRS to turn over his Tax return to Congress as I out lined, and that is how they will get it.

The House Chairman has made such a request, and the IRS has not followed the law by providing the tax return. Once again the Trump admin has broken the law so lets see what happens, and does the Sec. of Treasury go to jail.

I'll repeat my answer since you bviously didn't understand it the first time:

There is no law requiring Trump to reveal his tax returns.

You can repeat it all you want but it does not change what I told you. The law requires the IRS to turn over his Tax return to Congress as I out lined, and that is how they will get it.

Lets assume that you and the left are correct (that Trump committed a crime but didn't get caught). Lets see - if your local bank gets robbed and the thief doesn't get caught, using your logic, you can also assume that Trump robbed the bank since he/she didn't get caught.

So, applying your unsubstantiated off-topic accusation to the reply you attacked regarding Trump's tax returns ...... how would "Democratic spies" require the IRS to turn over Trump's tax returns to Congress?

take your post to heart. I gave you the law and neither you nor I can change the law. It does not matter what Trumps wants the law states the IRS will give the Tax Returns to the Chairman of the Committees when they ask for it, and it applies to all Tax Returns filed even mine and yours.

"When asked about Trump voluntarily releasing his tax returns, rather than being compelled to do so, voters even more clearly want the president to share the documents. Overall, 64% of voters think the president should publicly release his tax returns, while 29% believe he should not"
