CITIES WITH MOST FOLKS ON WELFARE

Message 41 of 77

Ya gotta love it. A member of the Trump Cult blames Obama for the fact that WV is the most dependent state in the country on Federal Welfare benefits. He's the same guy who never holds his idol and hero in the White House accountable for anything negative. That means it had to be Obama or Hillary's fault.

No surprise with the above. I believe Trump had one of his largest margins of victory in WV.

The state where Comrade Trump had his biggest election victory was West Virginia.

  • 30 Percent of W.Va. Families are on Medicaid
  •  West Virginia is the only state where less than half of civilians work
  • The Welfare State. WV gets more money per person from federal government programs than any other state in the country, with more than a quarter of the income in the state coming from federal benefits, according to a new study from George Washington University.Jun 2, 2014

Didn't your guy Obama put those people in W Virginia on welfare and Medicaid after he closed the coal mines?

I am afraid you have your alternate facts mixed up.  Coal mining in America has done quite well but only compared to other countries.  China is closing its coal mines and using our coal until then they can swap out to another energy source. They are very, very aware of the impact of greenhouse gasses.  The reduced number of miners is mainly the result of increased mechanization in the mines.  The demand for coal in America was already dropping steadily as more efficient and cleaner burning gas sources were developed.  Now, America is the only country encouraging this stone age energy resource while other countires repair the damage done by mining and move to better, cheaper sources. MAGA

I'm afraid you have your "story" a bit confused. I don't have a problem at all when supply of clean energy meets demand yet your guy Obama decided that wasn't happening fast enough so he decided to make W Virginia poorer than it already was by creating a void in their employment (coal mining)! You remember Cap & Trade?

WOW - according to the ignoblers, the RED States are those that have Republican leadership within the State and they are the  people who are writing and passing State Laws.    But when there is a problem  low pay in a State and people rely on TANF or other Federal monies to survive because the State allowed / negotiated with a corporation to move to their state, gave the companies huge benefits, like no or very low taxes for years, so the profits could flow to the corporation, but the non-tax revenue is not a State issue.    WOWZER what do these people smoke?   They are either incredibly uniformed about how a State functions...or they are just playing stupid to attempt to divert the reality that Red States care more for corporations that citizens.

the true unemployment rate is not nearly so low as the “official” unemployment rate used by governments around the world, and thus the ranks of unemployed and underemployed are sufficiently large that there is no upward pressure on wages. Orthodox economists, dedicated as they are to ignoring any evidence that doesn’t match their models designed to “prove” that all manners of capitalist excess are as natural as the tides of the ocean — and thus in practice the professional wing of conservative propagandists — have various excuses for stagnant wages and ever increasing inequality. A favorite among these is an alleged “skills mismatch” — too many unskilled workers and a shortage of skilled workers for the high-tech jobs of today.

The data tells a different story, however. A 2014 report by the National Employment Law Project found that low-wage jobs were created at a faster pace than higher-paid jobs were lost in the first years to that point. The Project reported this breakdown:

* Lower-wage industries ($9.48 per hour to $13.33) constituted 22 percent of the 2008-2010 losses, but 44 percent of jobs gained since then.

* Mid-wage industries ($13.73 to $20.00) constituted 37 percent of the 2008-2010 losses, but 26 percent of jobs gained since then.

* Higher-wage industries ($20.03 to $32.62) constituted 41 percent of the 2008-2010 losses, but 30 percent of jobs gained since then.

Will the ignoblers read AND comprehend how they are being stupid or liars?

None of this is new. the southern States have always been poor a lot more that the North Eastern States or the  West coast. and a lot of Middle States.
So it simply makes sense that they have more poverty than any of the other States, they always have. so being on welfare or Food Stamps is something expected.

Republicans passed laws that subsidized moving factories and businesses out of the cities and into the suburbs.

Those same Republicans then made certain there was no public transportation from the city to the suburbs.

Other Republicans in real estate prevented non-whites from moving to the suburbs for 30 years while their partners in banking redlined non-white neighborhoods in the cities, insuring they would deterioriate from lack of maintenance.

Republicans passed laws making it impossible for cities to annex their suburbs insuring the city's tax base would shrivel as would services for the residents.

Now Republicans have the audacity to tell us it's because of DEMOCRATS that there are so many poor people in the cities.

That excuse is getting pretty well worn out isn't it?   Why is it that other Presidents have been able to work with an opposition Congress to get legislation passed, but Obama couldn't?  He barely was able to get his Democratic Congress to pass his healthcare plan.

Geesh....so many uninformed and silly questions....

The answer to this one is, HE DID!!!  He "encouraged" wind and solar, a.k.a. alternative sources of energy.  My 8 year old grand-daughter knows that!!!

Pick a state (any state, Red or Blue) and google the largest city in that state by population and then google the city and ask if it is Red or Blue. There is where the welfare is!

Not only welfare but were the sanctuary cities are...the ones that do not work with ICE to keep our country safe...shame on them and their liberal Mayors.

Shame on the RED states for embracing poverty to bring in Federal tax dollars; shame on Montana and it's RED inhabitants.

But of course you knew that. Additionally, I believe that much of the coal mined is exported to other countries. but as other countries like China take the lead and switch to alternative energies (as they are now doing) their need for coal will diminish and the exporting of it also will.
