Not being invited doesn't correlate to "being hid" or not able to speak to the press. Clearly he told the press he wasn't invited.

So... You're making assumptions based on your bias.

I do believe Dr. Fauci has fallen out of favor over Dr. Birx. Dr. Fauci does get into the politics a bit and Dr. Birx does not... so that's how I see it.

I like the way the president is doing the covid updates.

The liberal left screams the president has no authority to open schools (we have a thread on AARP) and scream when insists schools are a local issue. Which is it... science, politics or just more hate everything Trump?

  • The president, any president, has no authority to open schools.
  • School systems are a local issue but we reserve the right to call out stupid when we see it.
  • If you want to see a logical and COMPETENT plan for reopening school systems, take a look at the New Mexico reopening plan.
  • We hate the unending barrage of incompetence.  It just appears we  hate everything Trump because he is at the center of it all.

Did you read this... The New Mexico Public Education Department
would like to thank the Georgia Department of Education
for their state exemplar and kind sharing of resources.

*President Trump has no authority to open or close schools... agreed

* Who is 'we'?

  • School systems are a local issue but we reserve the right to call out stupid when we see it.

If school opening is not part of the executive authority... to which we both agree... then what's the rub?

“Our strategy to safely reopen schools mirrors our approach nationwide.” Shelter those at highest risk, and allow those at lower risk to resume work and school with vigilant hygiene and social distancing.

I posted the White house link already. Did you review it?

  • Are you implying you are surprised the education system in Georgia is, collectively, smart enough to contribute to a logical plan?
  • "We" as in those liberals you keep calling names.
  • No rub. It is just that the implication of the thread is that these guidelines imply it is safe for schools to reopen.  When we have a national testing strategy along with a nation wide coronavirus response strategy in place, THEN it may be safe for schools to open. I figure that should be just after January 20.

You don’t question why trump hides Fauci, nor will let him speak openly in any tv interviews. Yet, you are happy when the school board or trump makes a decision on the kids going to school?

What we need to see is common sense and to listen to the Medical community.
What’s needed is to stop the spread of the virus...if that was accomplished, then

back to work, and back to school...but limit the exposure, first.

First... Fauci isn't being hid nor unable to speak openly to the press. Please cite your sources for that.

The CDC is the responsible entity for guiding/rules/guidelines for schools to open.

The virus is with us until we have 60-80% of our population with immunity or vaccinated. That will happen by/in 2025. We can't wait that long and need to move forward.

Feel free to investigate the science

Mr. Trump, sinking in the polls and pummeled with criticism over his handling of the pandemic, sees reopening the nation’s schools this fall as crucial to reinvigorating the economy and to his re-election. While many public health experts and pediatricians agree that returning children to classrooms is critically important, they warn that it has to be done cautiously, with a plan based on scientific evidence. Many, along with teachers’ unions, have accused the president of putting children and the adults who supervise them at school at risk by politicizing the subject.

It gets 'cool' where I live, rarely cold.

Kids need school, especially underprivileged rural kids. The high school is in town, but the grammer and middle school is rural.

All our rural schools are A rated.
