It certainly is. And since trump knows more than Generals (not!). I’m sure that there is one General that would like to speak with trump: “Fixed fortifications are monuments to man’s stupidity”.

Gen. George Patton

But then again, what did the General know? He only helped us win WWII.

Didn’t trust the russians either.

Building a wall really is a dumb idea

The grand idea that a physical barrier across the southern United States would stop illegal immigrants is laughable.  By itself, such a barrier is simply an inconvenience. The CBP response times to remote locations ranges from 2 hours to a full day.

Illegal immigration is at its lowest point in 10 years as a result of a steady decline over that period.  When illegal immigrants do get into America, they are, statistically, less likely to commit a crime than native born citizens. They have passed a test, of sorts, to enter the country. Rather than simply being born here, they had to leave everything behind at great risk then "make it" in a completely foreign land.

Drugs? Yes. 90% comes across the southern border but smuggled through the border checkpoints. Government witnesses in trials of cartel personalities have pointed out that you cannot bring enough drugs across the border one bag at a time.  They pack huge trucks and are willing to accept loses when discovered.

If you really want to interdict drugs, give the Coast Guard more money. They only have funds to chase and capture 25% of the boats government intelligence sources  know have drugs aboard.  This is insane.
