Re: Bloomberg's dismal debate performance

Bloomberg has been using a lot of support as crutches which are simply not available to anyone on the debate stage. This is why we have primaries. To see how the candidates would fare against an opponent (Trump) in a debate.  Trump would kill him.  I was pleasantly surprised with Warren, however. She eviscerated Bloomberg.

Someone on one of the Sunday morning talk shows said Bloomberg's debate performance was the worst he ever saw in his life time.

Looking on the positive side, he will be better next time. He can't be worse.

And next time, the viewing audience will also have lower expectations. That will be a plus.

I didn't realize how bad his closing remarks were until they showed the video. So uninspiring. So out of touch with the working class.

Bloomberg's dismal debate performance

What went on here?  How could he not have good answers for the stop and frisk question, or the nondisclosure agreement question?   It's not like he's new to politics and didn't know what to expect.

This columnist has a good point.  He should have been doing interviews everywhere and with everyone.  Taken these hard questions and explained them in context and depth beforehand, so he had a history to point to in the tiny soundbites allowed in a debate.

Bloomberg should have known better. He should have gone on every television and radio show and begged for longer formats to discuss more complicated subjects. You can’t explain the evolution of “stop and frisk,” or a parade of nondisclosure agreements, in 45 seconds. Bloomberg needed practice and time. He needed to be able to refer to testimonies already in the record.
