By covering the statue they did change the appearance of the statue. No, they did NOT change the appearance of the statue. They changed the appearance of the venue the statue is located in - anyone wishing to see the unchanged statue need only peek under the curtain.

That was funny!

That is what they did...they also disturbed the peace..and many other things that a good lawyer would be able to charge these hooligans with. That's what protests do - afflict the comfortable and comfort the afflicted.

People that try to make excuses for their behavior are condoning their actions...which would include all of the left wing posters on this thread...but for them it SOP.Only the neoRepublicans find exercise of Constitutional Rights to require and "excuse".

The more posts from the left I read I am very thankful I am not in that group..a group that is so full of hate they can not accept the facts or truth if it's not to the liking of their closed minds. Those who oppose hatred do not express hatred any more than those who oppose Nazis are Nazis.

Have a great weekend everyone! You too - we're off to see this great country again - this time the SW.

In my youth, I crossed paths with a con man. He lied and lied even when confronted with the truth and the impact of his lies. In the end we all realized that he was a con man and had no moral compass in his life.  Such people are simply to be avoided at all cost and never believed about anything.

Much like the conservatives here.  Have a good weekend, everyone.

How many times have posters on the right twisted language to misrepresent an event?  Too many. Face it, the right will lie to you in any way they think they can get away with it. It comes from Fox, Breitbart, and Infowars. They read it all the time so they assume it is acceptable.

Lying is not acceptable.

Unacceptable for decent people, but required and automatic for neoRepublicans.

Seems they think "de-face" means to cover one's visage and protests are only acceptable if the target of the protest is those who exercise their Constitutional rights, but never those who would deny those rights to others.

Placing a cloth over that statue did not mar or disfigure it.

Of course, Chaz.  But it's a Conservative and facts just don't matter.

The statue of Thomas Jefferson was attacked Tuesday evening by protesters at the university he founded.
According to local media in Charlottesville, about 100 students, faculty and local residents shrouded the statue in black and hung a banner on it saying “Black Lives Matter” and that “White Supremacy” should commit a sexual act.
Others in the small rainy-night crowd carried signs reading “Thomas Jefferson is a racist and a rapist” and chanted “No Trump, No KKK, no racist UVa.”
The defacement came one month after riots over a white-nationalist protest against a similar shrouding by the city council of statues of Confederate generals Robert E. Lee and Thomas “Stonewall” Jackson.

That is what they did..Glad to see you looked up the word.  How was the surface or appearance "spoiled"?
.they also disturbed the peace..and many other things that a good lawyer would be able to charge these hooligans with.  WOW!  Most understand the police press charges; not lawyers.  Fact is, if they broke any laws, they would have been charged.  Fact is, they weren't charged.  Fact is, you're pushing FAKE NEWS.....AGAIN!!!!

People that try to make excuess (sic) for their behavior are condoning their actions.  People who twist the facts to support their biased views are despicable.

That is an interesting point. Of course they are. But there is a constant stream of posts about those who "protect and defend" and yet, I have not yet seen one on these discussion boards.

So, who is it you are criticizing?
