Biden leads Trump by 14 points nationally

The WSJ poll (that notorious leftist rag) was taken after the debate and before Trump's sketchy health precautions brought him down with Covid-19.  No doubt after news of his hospitalization, Trump's standing in the polls will soar because his regressive base love a loser.

Respondents believe Biden better handled the debate, a free-for-all in which Trump frequently interrupted his opponent and Biden called the president a “clown.” The survey found 49% of voters think Biden did a better job, while 24% think Trump performed better. Another 17% said neither man did a good job, and 9% answered that they are not sure.

Even so, it is unclear how much the chaotic event will change the race. About three-quarters of respondents, 73%, said the debate made no difference in how they will vote. Another 19% responded that it made them more likely to support Biden, while 6% answered that it made them more likely to back Trump.

The phone survey of 800 registered voters, taken on Wednesday and Thursday, has a margin of error of plus or minus 3.46 percentage points.

I don't know which polls Olderscout is looking at, but Trump leads in Georgia and Texas. He should check out FIVE THIRTY EIGHT for the most accurate forecasts.

Rich made some very good points, but I will repeat what I said earlier, the only polls which matter are the battleground state polls.

True, the only poll that matters is the ones we vote at, but still, a 14% lead with a month to go and leads in Michigan, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, Florida and (surprise surprise) Georgia (6%) and North Carolina (2%) and a few polls having Biden TIED in Texas seem very positive for the future of America and Democracy.

VOTE HIM OUT

THEN

LOCK HIM UP

Personally, I like Nate Silver's FiveThirtyEight site.  They put Trump's chances of winning at 21% (which is not zero).  They also point out that in 2016, not one of the polls had Clinton as far ahead as Biden is.  Certainly, a poll is only a poll but this shows how much the American people have decided against Trump today.

The National Polls are always interesting, but in the end, they are irrelevant. The only polls which matter are the approximately 12 battleground states. Hillary learned that lesson in 2016 when she won the national poll but lost the election.

At this point in time, Biden leads in most of the battleground state polls.

Actually, his lead is greater than Hillary's was, thank goodness.
