FYI-

Jan. 20, 2001, his last day in office, Bill Clinton issued a pardon for international fugitive Marc Rich. It would become perhaps the most condemned official act of Clinton’s political career.

Clinton should never have done that, but if you think pardoning Marc Rich is equal to the spree Trump is on of pardoning degenerate stains on humanity you are in another universe. I don't know if Bernie Madoff is scummy enough for Trump, but I bet he's feeling optimistic these days.

@Panjandrum

Join the club. A meeting on the tarmac,

although no proof has been provided as to the purpose, just opinions. Somehow this is suppose to equate with trump breaking laws and subverting our Constitutional.,.another attempt to apply equivalency, but not successful...trump subverts our Democracy...there is no equvalelience...trump is a lying crook!

I think that, not only with their current behavior, but both trump and barr will continue to show how criminal their behavior is, also how UnConstitutional it is, and also how UnAmerican and UnPatriotic it is...putin is probably laughing at how successful he has been at manipulating trump! And how trump repubs are helping putin to promote his agenda...thanks a lot trump repubs!

Only the Dems seem able to emulate Putin who is diametrically opposed to Trump's way of governing while Putin seems to be in sync with most of the Democrat candidates.

Only in some kind of warped alternate reality does Putin and the Russians not openly support and help tRump, it has simply been proven through investigations.

easyed598:  Sort of reminds you of the Obama administration and Lorretta Lynch.However ,I see it as the DOJ has finally become independent. Barr has let Trump know that he is in control unlike Lynch and Obama.

I must be missing something here because no matter how I read this it makes little sense.

Trump and Barr remind me of Nixon and Mitchell. Nixon unlike Trump did have one or two redeaming qualities. Barr doesn't see himself as a true champion of justice ,but as a King maker. Putin has got to be doing a victory dance every day of the week.

Trump Cult members don't get it. The President of the United States is NOT in charge of justice. Judges, prosecutors, and Juries meter out justice, not the president. But in the All White Republican Party, their idol in the White House can do nothing wrong.

Yes, what Bill Clinton did was a slime ball act by pardoning Marc Rich. However, that was a one time event, whereas Trump is trying to destroy the Dept. of Justice by making it a banana republic arm of the White House every day of the week.

The All White Republican Party is putting up zero resistance to what Trump is doing to our democracy. The Justice Deparment is no longer an INDEPENDENT department.

CT posted -The Republican Party is a CULT where the Rule of Law no longer applies. The only thing which matters is keeping Trump in power and allowing him to act as a mini-dictator. Never in our life have we seen a president intervene in ongoing court cases via a crooked attorney general----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------FYI-

 Jan. 20, 2001, his last day in office, Bill Clinton issued a pardon for international fugitive Marc Rich. It would become perhaps the most condemned official act of Clinton’s political career. A New York Times editorial called it “a shocking abuse of presidential power.” The usually Clinton-friendly New Republic noted it “is often mentioned as Exhibit A of Clintonian sliminess.”

Congressman Barney Frank added, “It was a real betrayal by Bill Clinton of all who had been strongly supportive of him to do something this unjustified. It was contemptuous.”

Marc Rich was wanted for a list of charges going back decades. He had traded illegally with America’s enemies including Ayatollah Khomeini’s Iran, where he bought about $200 million worth of oil while revolutionaries allied with Khomeini held 53 American hostages in 1979
