Two thoughts (again):

1) I look forward to the removal of the name Harry Byrd from all sorts of stuff in W.Va.

2) They had the "who goes to what bathroom" issue and now this. I wonder what the next "cause" for the "Conflict Theory" leaders of the left will be.

How soon before the Washington monument is imploded? Are you holding your breath?  TheJefferson memorial removed? Is that your hope?

It's more about destroying the history of this country. I'm not sure "history" can be destroyed.  Can you destroy science as well"   How do you destroy the past?  By taking down a statue?  That's an odd concept.  What happens to all the documentary's?  Do they disappare as well?  Slavery, the convenient, contemporary vehicle to achieve one of Saul Alinsky's goals. Was that a sentence?  Amazingly, no mention by the Left to rename all the streets in West Virginia named after Robert Byrd or removing the many items throughout the state created in his honor. Interestingly, we've heard this from other Fox viewers....you just the latest......Byrd, a proud, VIP in the KKK. Should the Democratic Party be disbanded for its shameful history of racism??  Only if the GOP is as well.....

These monuments aren't about slavery - they are about war.

I already told you the accomplishments of Roger B Taney.

So why were they removed????

The Confederate Women of MD - Baltimore

Donated by the State of Maryland, this monument is by J. Maxwell Miller, the artist behind the Star-Spangled Banner Centennial Monument. Dedicated in 1917, the privately and publicly funded sculpture by MICA instructor J. Maxwell Miller was part of an effort across the south to honor the sacrifices of Confederate women. Paid for by United Confederate Veterans, the Maryland Chapter of the United Daughters of the Confederacy, and the State of Maryland, it portrays a dying Confederate solider with a tattered Confederate Battled Flag and two women, one cradling him and another standing, peering into the horizon. Inscriptions include "The Brave at Home" and "In difficulty and danger, regardless of self, they fed the hungry, clothed the needy, nursed the wounded, and comforted the dying."

Confederate Soldiers and Sailors Monument

Erected in 1903 by the Maryland Daughters of the Confederacy at what was then a gateway to Druid Hill Park, the monument by French-born New York sculptor F. Wellington Ruckstuhl depicts the allegorical figure Glory holding up a dying Confederate solider, who's holding the Confederate Battle Flag. Inscriptions include "Gloria Victis," (glory to the vanquished), "to the soldiers and sailors of Maryland in the service of the Confederate States of America 1861-1865," and the Confederate States of America motto "Deo Vindice" (God our vindicator).

I already told you about the accomplishments of Supreme Court Chief Justice Roger B Taney.

these monuments were erected at the height of Jim Crow and Lynchings,  Taney from the bench did not believe Black people should be citizens.

So it begins.

Rich--Again, spot on! Seems trump's base and trump have the same understanding of history and historical fact, and that is,  they have none.

Just a few questions about your position on this matter:

  • Are you implying that the only reason West Virginia named streets after Robert Byrd was that he fought the Civil Rights act and was favorable to the KKK?

  • Are you implying the the Democratic Party, who fielded the only black and female presidential candidates are racist?
  • Are you implying the only reason for the Washington Monument is that he owned slaves?
  • Are you implying the only reason to Memorialize Jefferson was that he owned slaves?
  • Would you put up a monument to the Confederate heroes today knowing their only accomplishments of note (unlike Washington and Jefferson) was their struggle to keep slaves?

I can see why conservatives are so worried about "losing" history with the statues. They understand so little of it.

Byrd apologized many times for his KKK association, and supported policy and laws that ran completely counter to the kkk. What's Trump's excuse?

Should the Republican Party be disbanded for its shameful on-going support of racism today??
